BETTER TRAINING.
STRONGER SCHOOLS.
TOGETHER.

United by a Mission.
Built on Experience.

Our mission & history

Help people become safer, stronger, and more capable—and help the professionals who teach them do the same.

John Whitman created the Krav Maga Alliance to bring schools, instructors, and students together through realistic training and the continuous exchange of ideas.

His background includes leading instructor education at Krav Maga Worldwide and co-authoring Complete Krav Maga and Krav Maga for Beginners. Today, the Alliance connects 130 affiliates around the world through a shared commitment to better teaching, high standards, and supporting one another.

That commitment reaches beyond technique. We help affiliates develop their programs, strengthen their businesses, and build communities that make a difference.

High Standards.
A Team Behind Them.

John Whitman & the executive board

Krav Maga Alliance
affiliation FAQs

From your first conversation to getting your program ready, here’s what to expect.

Who can become a Krav Maga Alliance affiliate?

Anyone interested in building a Krav Maga program can explore affiliation with KMA. If you have prior experience, we can review your credentials and either recognize your certification or help you create a plan to become certified. If you’re new to Krav Maga, we’ll help you find the training you need to get started.

Can I join if I’m affiliated with another Krav Maga organization?

Yes. Several current KMA affiliates also belong to other Krav Maga organizations. Our goal is to give you tools and training to run your program better. We recognize certifications from several reputable organizations and can review your existing credentials with you.

What support will I receive as an affiliate?

Affiliates receive continuing education through KMA Connect, discounts on camps and seminars, business resources, marketing support, and more. We’re committed to helping each affiliate succeed both on the mats and as a business.

Do my instructors need certification before representing KMA?

Yes. To represent themselves as KMA affiliates, instructors must have passed an instructor certification course and remain in good standing. We can review existing credentials from recognized organizations or help you plan the instructor certification training you need.

Can I keep my school’s name and teach other martial arts?

Yes. KMA uses an affiliation agreement, not a licensing or franchise agreement. Your gym remains independently owned and operated. You can keep your school’s name, continue teaching other martial arts, and run your business as you see fit.

Is KMA Connect included with affiliation?

Yes. KMA Connect is included at no additional charge for each affiliate. Gym owners receive a higher level of access with additional business resources, and all certified coaches at their school also receive access at no extra cost.

How do I get started, and what happens after I reach out?

Start by telling us about your gym. We’ll arrange a quick discovery call to answer your questions about the Krav Maga Alliance and learn more about your goals. From there, we’ll work with you on a plan that fits your experience and your school, including any certification training you need to get your KMA program running.
