Drill: partner moves around, calls out either left or right punch OR outside slap kick
Inside Defense v. Left Punch
Inside Defense v. Right Punch (2 counters)
Inside Defense v. Right Punch (1 counter)
Reflexive Defense v. High Round Kick
Drill: eyes closed; verbal signal; react to either straight punch or high round kick (slow speed, then faster if possible)

ADVANCED CLASS
Tabata Punches = - 8 rounds, 20 seconds full speed, 10 second rest
Mouth of Hand Punch
Cavaliers (emphasize taking down for tonight)
Knife Downward stab (emphasize takedowns for tonight)
Knife Upward stab (emphasize takedowns for tonight)

BEGINNER CLASS
Front Kick to a Vertical Target
Knees
Combo: Front Kick Vertical Target, Knee (using same leg)
Basic Takedown Defense
Combo: Front Kick Vertical Target, Knee, partner with pad then pushes forward, defender makes Basic Takedown Defense to maintain balance and control.
Knife - Downward Stab (review from earlier this week)

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Focus mitts -- Right Uppercut/Left Hook
Basic Takedown Defense - Spinning on the Centerline
Combo: pad holder with focus mitts shoots in, defender Spins on Centerline, and then makes Right Uppercut/Left Hook (practice slowly at first, so the pad holder learns how to move and hold).
Ground - Trap and Roll
Ground - Side Elbow Escape
Drill: 3 people; defender on his back, the attacker makes a full mount; the defender must improve his position either through Trap and Roll or Side Elbow Escape (if he can get to half guard, that is good enough); the third person holds a pad AND COUNTS THE NUMBER OF SECONDS IT TAKES FOR THE DEFENDER TO SUCCEED; the defender then jumps up and must punch for that number of seconds, then drop down and repeat. Do several rounds. It can be brutal.

ADVANCED CLASS
Punches to warm up
Drill: 3 people; defender makes combatives to a pad, and then defends against Headlock from Behind or Bearhug from Behind.
Knife - kick v. stabs
Knife - Downward Stab; if the class is advanced enough, emphasize left handed attackers and defending on the dead side.

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches
Drill: Find Your Partner (using straight punches)
360
Choke from the Front (2 handed pluck; should be review)
Knife - downward stab -- defense and counter only
Drill: eyes closed, choke or knife or push with pad and react with straight punches

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Focus Mitts - 3 rounds x 3 minutes
Basic Takedown Defense - spin on centerline
Drill: focus mitt holder moves around, either gives signal for combinations, or shoots in and the puncher must defend.
Defenses v. High Round Kick (2 and 3 points of contact)

ADVANCED CLASS
Thai Pads - 2 rounds x 3 minutes, one round in each stance
Gun from the Side, Front of Arm
Play with angles to the side -- sometimes regular Gun from the Front, sometimes Gun to the Side, Front of ARm

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches: Left/Left/Right
Basic Takedown Defense
Round Kick
Drill: eyes closed, pushed, open eyes and see target for either round kick or punches; if punches, make Left/Left/Right
Get up -- practice both sides
Drill: get up, make either round kick or combination above

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Focus Mitts 3 rounds x 3 minutes
360 w/counters
Drill: Groups of 3; make combinations to focus mitts and react to third person giving 360.

Sparring drills -- slow enough that you do not need pads or shinguards, open hands. Make students work from both stances.
Knife on the Ground - full mount, downward stab
Gun on the Ground - full mount, trap and roll
Drill: eyes closed, open on command, react to gun or knife

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches - focus on power in single punches
Elbow #1
Front Kick Vertical Target
Drill: Distance recognition - defender stands with eyes closed; attacker with pad stands at different distances and gives verbal signal; the defender opens eyes and throws the appropriate weapon for the distance.
Headlock from Behind
Drill: same drill as above, but add Headlock from Behind as an attack

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Focus Mitt Combos 1-4
Ground and Pound - straddling pad, throwing punches, hammerfists, and elbows
Drill: groups of 3 -- ground and pound, then jump up to make focus mitt combinations, then back down to ground and pound.
Ground - Arm Bar
Ground - Guard Reversal

ADVANCED CLASS
Light sparring - one attack, one defend, short combinations
Light sparring - both attack, both defend, light contact
Gun - gun from the front against a left-handed gunman, use both the regular technique and the 2-handed cupping technique.

BEGINNER CLASS
Palm Strikes
Elbows 1-3
Hammerfist to the Side
Drill: eyes closed, pad holder gives a light push with the pad from either side; the defender must open his eyes and recognize the distance, then give the appropriate strike (hammerfist or elbow) for that distance
Choke From Behind - practice defending with a step backward to either side
Drill: attacker makes choke from behind, but stands slightly to one side or the other; the defender must recognize this, and make the defend to the appropriate side for maximum effect.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Uppercut Punches
Defense v. Uppercut Punch
Basic Takedown Defense
Drill: apply uppercuts in the clinch after Basic Takedown Defense
Reverse Headlock -- work the opposite side we normally work
Drill: partner #1 makes a basic grab or clinch; partner #2 makes a Basic Takedown Defense; partner #1 drops in low to grab the body; partner #2 makes a reverse headlock; partner #1 makes Defense v. Reverse Headlock

ADVANCED CLASS
General Striking to large kicking shield; emphasize side kicks and back kicks as well as basic strikes
Drill: groups of 3; two pad holders, one defender; the defender must attack one target; when he is hit by another pad, he must transition to that pad immediately; the padholders should strike from behind and the sides FROM VARIOUS DISTANCES, so that the defender must choose the appropriate weapon (side kick,back kick,etc.) before continuing with additional counters.
Sweeps - forward and back
Knife - Downward Stab from the dead side

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches
Combination: Left/Right/Right, then move
Elbows 1-3
Drill: eyes closed, elbow #2 to either side, reacting to a slight push
Knees - basic review
Drill: Knees driving your partner across the room! Do one leg in one direction, then the other leg coming back.
Choke from the Front with a Push - work the opposite side that you normally work

Straight Punches from an opposite fighting stance
Review Choke from Behind from Level 1
Inside Defense v. Left Punch
Inside Defense v. Left Punch (live side)

Drill: eyes closed, verbal signal, react with a kick or hand defense, as appropriate

Drill: defender starts on the ground; on the attacker's signal, the attacker gets up, and either kicks to stop attacker, or defends against knife attack

Slip v. straight punch
Focus mitts: Left/Right/slip/Right cross

Drill: defend any 360 or left straight punch (with Inside Def. v. Left Straight Punch)

Mouth of Hand Punch
Sprawl v. Shoot -- include Mouth of Hand Punch in counterattacks
Knife: Defense v. Downward Stab
Drill: defend either shoot or downward stab

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches
Drill: Pad holder at one end of the room; striker throwing light punches for technique; at the instructor's command, spring to the other end of the room, drop and do 5 push ups, then sprint back and punch at full speed! At the instructor's command, return to slow work; do about three rounds for each person.
Hammerfist to the Side
Headlock from Behind (if review, practice the other side)
Drill: Eyes closed; headlock from behind or hammerfist to the side

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
General strikes to kicking shield: Straight Punches, Elbows, Front Kick to a Vertical Target, Knees
Drill: pad holder moves around, and striker follows; on command, the striker must burst in with combatives; striker continues combatives until told to disengage; then return to movement.
Ground: Trap and Roll
Ground: Side Elbow Escape (shrimping)
Ground: Guard Reversal
Drill: the defender is on top of a pad in full mount, throwing strikes; the attacker pushes them off the pad and gets into a full mount position; the striker must improve his position by make Trap and Roll, or by doing Side Elbow Escape. When make Side Elbow Escape, if the defender can move to half guard, we will consider that successful.

ADVANCED CLASS
Thai Pads 3x3 minutes
Sparring, slow, open hands 3x2 minutes (wear shin guards)
Gun Behind, Touching -- look over the right shoulder
