ADVANCED CLASS
1-2-3 Rounds Drill: use left/right combo, front kick either leg, round kick either leg, and sprawl with a knee; in the first round, do 1 strike (or left/right combo) on command; in the second round, do 2 strikes; in the third, do three. NOTE that this means in round 2, when told to sprawl, the striker does "sprawl-knee, sprawl knee" etc.
Side Kick (progress toward higher side kicks)
Plucking/Rowing Defense v. Medium Side Kick
Redirecting Defense v. High Side Kick

BEGINNER CLASS - Straight punches left right combo. Straight punch low, practice to partners stomach for technique (use the pad for the drill so the puncher can use power). Drill: pad holder moves and holds for either straight punch or straight punch low. Inside defense. If time inside defense low. Drill: Partner has eyes closed, puncher says hey and makes either side right or left punch, then reset. For every inside defense done with the wrong hand, defender sprints does three pushups and comes back.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS - Thai pad work including sprawls, tuck jumps, and sprints. Outside defenses 1-5. Drill: in groups of three have 1 defender and 2 attackers to practice the outside defenses. Review bearhug from behind arms free. Bearhug from behind leverage on the finger. Drill: groups of 3 defender makes outside defenses with one attacker, second attacker puts bearhug from behind on defender any time.

ADVANCED CLASS - Tabata thai pads (20 seconds on, 10 seconds off) round 1 alternating Left right punches, round 2 right roundkick, round 3 left roundkick, round 4 sprawl right cross. Repeat for a total of 8 rounds. Gun from behind at a distance. Sacrifice throw.

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches - more experienced students, try punching from an opposite stance for part of this segment.

Choke from the Side
Drill: eyes closed, the defender is shoved with a pad and responds with the combination, or is choked from the side.

Drill: eyes closed, deliver side kick or back kick on command
Ground: Side Control Position
Ground: Side Control, Armlock
Ground: Escape from Side Control (shrimping)
Drill: Escape from Side Control, get up, deliver side kick or back kick

ADVANCED CLASS
Focus Mitt work - pad holder calls combination, or shoots in for takedown (be sure the pad holder drops low to avoid accidental punches!)
Hip Throw
Long Gun: Bayonet stab (dead side/clothesline)

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches
Drill: Belt Drill (aka "Plow the Field")
Knees
Combo: straight punches, knee
Ground Position - Side
Ground - Side Kick
Ground - Get Up (from side position)
Drill: start in ground side position, kick, get up, punch and knee

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Straight Punches: 50 each hand, emphasizing power
Basic Takedown Defense - spin on centerline
Choke from the Front with a Push (review)
Choke Front Against Wall -- apply spinning principle to get away from the wall

ADVANCED CLASS
Thai Pads: Left/Right/Left Hook/Right Round Kick
Thai Pads: same combo, but move off angle before giving round kick
Double Leg Takedown
Long Gun from Behind, Touching
Machine Gun Takedown

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches
Elbows 4-7 (after basic technique, emphasize turning to finish)
Drill: eyes closed, strike pad either in front with straight punches, or behind with appropriate elbow.
Choke from Behind with a Push

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Focus Mitts -- Left/Right/Right/Left Hook (build toward this combination)
Back Kick (should be review)
Defensive Back Kick with a Spin
Drill: group of 3; the defender strikes focus mitts and then, on command, makes a back kick to a second attacker. This attacker should be at an angle appropriate for a spinning back kick, usually on the defender's left side.

General Striking
Stick - overhead review
Stick - baseball bat review
Stick - dead side
Stick - baseball bat, left handed attacker
All stick attacks slow, then faster
Drill: striking pad; on verbal warning make the appropriate stick defense, then return to striking

BEGINNER CLASS
Straight Punches
Hammerfist to the Front
Drill: flurries of punches using straight punches and hammerfist
Straight Punch Low
Inside Def. v. Straight Punch Low
Review Inside Defense
Drill: defend high or low straight punch; first left hand only, then right hand only, then mix it up

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
After warm up, general punching to prepare hands
Tabata Punches, 4 rounds (Tabata = 20 seconds on, 10 second rest)
Review Advancing Front Kick from Level 1
Review Choke from Behind from Level 1
Choke from Behind with a Pull
Drill: eyes closed; punch to the front or Choke from Behind with a Pull

ADVANCED CLASS
Thai pads: 3 minute drill - one minute left right combination, one minute right round kicks, one minute left round kicks
Stick - review defense v. downward swing
Stick - review baseball bat
Stick - defend either downward or baseball bat
Bayonet stab -- live side (like long gun defense)

BEGINNER CLASS

General Defense v. Medium/High Round Kick
Stick: baseball bat defense

BEGINNER CLASS

Eye Strikes -- use oranges (email John if you don't know this drill) - do it outside!!

Drill: eyes closed, either straight punch from the side, target for side kick, or hair grab from the side

ADVANCED CLASS
Sparring: 4 rounds light and slow; advanced students fight 2 rounds from opposite stance
Simple Takedown
Stick Overhead (advanced students, train left or right handed attack)

BEGINNER CLASS

Drill: Straight Punches, do jump tuck (knees to chest) on instructor command, then back to punching; give an increasing number of jumps up to 5.

Drill: Straight Punches, do jump tuck (knees to chest) on instructor command, then back to punching; give an increasing number of jumps up to 5.

ADVANCED CLASS
Thai Pad combinations - after basic combinations for warm up, make sprawl/jump tuck at the end of each combination.
Gun from the Front
Drill: punch pads, jump tuck on command to tire legs, then Gun from the Front; continue non-stop until instructor calls switch.

BEGINNER CLASS
Tabata Palm Strikes - 8 rounds, 20 seconds full speed, 10 second rest
Groin Kick -- emphasize from passive stance
Choke from the Front (2 handed pluck)
Choke from the Front with a Push
Drill: eyes closed, feel regular choke or choke with a push (half speed at first)

INTERMEDIATE CLASS
Tabata Punches and Elbows - 8 rounds, 20 seconds full speed, 10 second rest
Front Kick with Advance
Drill: eyes closed, pushed with pad, react with advancing front kick
Gun from the Front (2 handed technique) -- go both direction

ADVANCED CLASS
Chops
Sweeps
Basic Self Defense review -- incorporate chops and sweeps into counters, half speed, then pick up the pace as possible
