Drill: striking 30 seconds with a 15 second break; 5 rounds

Drill: kicking 30 seconds with a 15 second break; 3 rounds
Choke Front with a Push
Choke Behind with a Push
Rotation Drill: groups of 3 -- Person #1 holds a pad for punches at one end of the room; at the other end of the room, Person #2 stands with eyes closed; Person #3 makes Choke Front Push or Choke Behind Push to Person #2; Person #2 defends, then sprints across the room while Person #3 now stands with eyes closed; Person #2 makes 10 left/right combinations, then takes the pad; Person #1 runs across the room and attacks Person #3. They rotate continuously.

(read it a couple of times; I promise it makes sense!)

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (A2)
Striking on the Ground from Full Mount
Drill: Belt Drag -- one person is in full mount on top of a pad, striking, while the partner holds a belt around the striker's waist; at the command of the instructor, the striker jumps up and sprints to the end of the room and back while the partner holds them back with the belt. Do 3 rounds each.
Defense v. High Round Kick (2 or 3 points of contact)
Defense v. Low Round Kick (shin block)
Defense v. Low Round Kick (absorbing)
Discuss making simultaneous defenses (raising the shin and using the arms together)
Vision Drill: defend right round kick high or low; defend left round kick high or low

ADVANCED CLASS (A2)
Review basic strikes after warm up
Striking drill: ROUND ONE - to a tombstone pad, make either left/right combo, one front kick, one round kick, one sprawl/knee; ROUND TWO - to a tombstone pad, make either 2 left/right combos, two front kicks, two round kicks, or two sprawl/knees; ROUND THREE...etc. For an advanced group, do FOUR or FIVE rounds (someone might throw up around the fifth round).

Gun Front (two hand technique)
Drill: one person in the middle, striking a pad; when hit by another pad, he must turn to strike that pad; at any time, a gunman may point the gun at him (from the front); he must defend, take the gun, and then go back to striking non-stop!

Round Kick - discuss forward leg kick, stepping or making a switch

Drill: make either combo, plus call sprawl at any time

Drill: pad holder calls out an even number (2, 4, 6, etc); puncher makes that many punches; focus on hip turn with every punch. Most numbers should be 2, 4, and 6. Sometimes call out high number.

NOTE -- there is a safety concern with rushing forward; instead of running, you can tell the students to crawl or crab walk)

Hammerfist to the Side
Drill: defender's eyes are closed; the attacker touches the defender with the pad and then holds the pad either very close for elbow #2 or farther away for hammerfist to the side; the defender must recognize the distance and make the appropriate strike
Choke from the Front with a Push (practice both sides)
Drill: Attacker chokes and pushes from the front, but with a small angle left or right. The defender must react and make the defense to the correct side.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (A2)

Focus Mitts: Vision Drill - groups of three; one person holds focus mitts for straight punches; second person punches; third person stands to the side of the pad holder and holds up on hand or the other; puncher must call out the hand that moves
Advanced Lesson: simple takedown (tackle)
Ground: Arm Bar from Guard
Reverse Headlock (Guillotine) Standing
Drill: Takedown Flow Drill: partner #1 tries a simple takedown; partner #2 sprawls to avoid the takedown and tries a standing guillotine; partner #1 makes the defense; OR partner #1 tries a simple takedown and succeeds; partner #2 pulls guard and makes armbar.

Drill: the defender's eyes are closed; the attacker gives a verbal signal and then makes Right Punch OR Right Round Kick (high). The defender must defend. Do the same thing with Left Punch or Left High Round Kick. If the students are proficient, repeat the drill with Left or Right.
