· Defender- executes a backfall and for the sake of the drill allows the attacker to mount them
· Defender executes elbow to knee escape followed by scissor sweep, finish with strikes from the mount and “Reset”

· Attackers at any given time may attack the striker with either basic Bear Hug from behind or Bear Hug from behind with a lift (be sure to mix it up!)

Drill: Movement -- partner moves forward, throwing very light punches; defender moves feet to the side, back, etc. to stay out of range. The defender should try NOT to simply run away, but should try to move so that punches cannot reach.

Drill: defender stands with eyes closed; attacker grabs hair and pulls; if the defender succeeds in making the hair grab defense, the drill starts again; if the defender falls to their knees, the attacker continues to fight; the defender pulls guard and makes an arm bar.
NOTE: you can make this drill safer by adding a verbal command -- the attacker can decide if the defender succeeds by saying "Down, down!" in this case, the defender must drop down and defend from the ground.

Ground - Guard Reversal
Drill: groups of three; defender makes a combination to focus mitts; at any time, an attacker can come from behind and make Bearhug From Behind, Arms Free; if the defender makes a good defense, the attacker lets go; if the defender does not defend well, the attacker says "Down!" and the defender must allow the attacker to take him to the floor; the defender pulls guard, and makes the Guard Reversal. The defender gets up and the drill continues.
