Hi everyone, I apologize for not posting Monday lesson plans. I was traveling and failed to do them before getting on the plane for home. I hope it didn't cause too much of an inconvenience.

Beginner (B2)

Palm Heel Strikes (from the mount)

Front Kick Vertical Target

Knees

Combo- Front Kick Vertical Target/Knee strike

Choke from Behind

Headlock from Behind

Drill- Groups of 3, 2 Large shields;  defender; non-stop palm heel strikes from the mount, pad holder gives a verbal signal "UP", on signal defender quickly gets up and continues with strikes, attacker makes either Choke from behind or Headlock from Behind, defender; defends and gets back to working the pad from the mount. Repeat.

 

Intermediate (D2) 

Focus Mitts

Bobbing/Weaving/Slipping

Hooks

Uppercut

Combo- L-Hook to the Body/L-Hook to the Head/R-Cross

Combo- Bob/Weave/R-Cross/L-Hook/R-Cross

Combo- Put both combos together!  L-Hook to the Body/L-Hook to the Head/R-Cross

Bob/Weave/R-Cross/L-Hook/R-Cross

Gun to the side of the head

Ground- choke from the mount

Drill: Groups of 3, 1 small shield; defender starts on their back, attacker;  choke from the mount, defender; defends, gets up and attacks the pad with non-stop strikes, attacker; Gun to the side of the head.  Reset after a successful defense.

 

Advanced (D2) 

Muay Thai Pads

Power Strikes- 2 Rounds of 2 Minutes, working on KO POWER!!

Round 1- Single techniques (Jab, Cross, Hook, etc...), followed by a round kick.

Round 2- 2 of every technique, followed by 2 rounds kicks.

Round 3- 2 of every technique, followed by 2 Round Kicks and 2 Knees

Cavaliers 1-4

Gun-from Behind (touching)

Gun- from Front, Pushing into Stomach

Knife- Defense v. Forward Slash

Knife- Defense v. Back Slash

Drill: eyes closed, defend against Knife or Gun.

 

BEGINNER CLASS (B2)

Drill: Flurries of Palm Heel Strikes or Knees on Instructors command
360
Advanced Technique: Knife- Downward Stab
Drill: Defender eyes closed; attacker gives a verbal signal, makes either 360,  downward stab or bumps defender with a pad and holds for strikes.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (D2)
Bobbing/Weaving/Slipping
Focus Mitts- Jab/Jab/slip to the right/ cross/Hook/ Cross
Inside Defense v. Left Punch
Inside Defense v. Right Punch 2 Counters
Ground- Trap and Roll
Drill: Groups of 3; defender starts from the ground with attacker mounting them, defender must trap and roll and get up, then defend against straight punches from the second attacker. (attacker on top must make it difficult but not impossible for the defender)

ADVANCED CLASS (D2)
Axe Kick
Combo- Axe Kick, power right Cross
Sweep with Heel Kick
Knife- Kick from distance
Knife- Downward Stab
Knife- Upward stab
Drill: eyes closed, recognize distance and kick or use hands v. knife

Beginner (B2)

Left/Right Combination

Elbows 1-3

Drill: 5 Rounds

Left/Right/Right Elbow Strike x 10

Knee Strikes (Right Side) x 5

Knee Strikes (Left Side) x 5

Front Kick Groin (Right Leg) x 5

Front Kick Groin (Left Leg) x 5

5 Burpees

360 Defense

Advanced- Knife- downward Stab

Drill: Concealed weapon,

Defender; starts with their eyes closed, attacker;  choke from Front, Side or Behind, after the defenders initial defense, attacker steps back pulls his knife out and attacks with downward stab.

 

Intermediate (D2) 

Thai Pads 2 Rounds- Round 1- Hands only (last 30 Sec non-stop L/R punches), Round 2- Hands and Feet (last 30 sec make combo sprint and back)

Outside Slap Kicks

Defense v. Uppercut

Defense v. High Front Kick (redirect)

Drill: Defend against Uppercut or High Front Kick

Ground- Arm Bar from the Guard

 

Advanced (D2) 

Focus Mitt- 2 rounds of 3 minutes, 3 Knee tucks on instructors command

Gun from Behind, Touching

- do the same technique while holding and object

- do the same technique while being walked

Gun from a distance

Beginner (B2)

Palm Heel Strikes

Palm Heel Strikes from the mount (using a large shield)

Front Kick (Groin)

A/B Drill: Front Kick (Groin) at one side and Palm Heel strike from the mount at the other.

Headlock from Behind

Ground- Getting Up

Drill: Groups of 3, one large shield, defender; starts on their back, gets up, non stop strikes on the pad, attacker makes a headlock from behind, reset after a successful defense.

 

Intermediate (D2)

3 Round Drill

360 Defense with Counterattacks

Defense v. High Round Kick (2 and 3 points)

Ground- trap and roll

Ground- defense v. choke full mount

Drill: Groups of 3, 1 defender, 2 attackers, defender starts on the ground, attacker mounts defender and makes either of the above ground techniques, defender; makes the appropriate defense and quickly gets up, 2nd attacker; gives a verbal and makes a 360 attack or a High round kick, defender; defends and follows up with counter attacks. Reset.

 

Advanced (D2)

Focus Mitts- 3 Rounds of 3 Minutes, Opposite Stance

Chops (inside and out side)

Gun from the Side, Behind Arm

Gun from behind (touching)

Gun from the side, in front Arm

Drill: Groups of 5, monkey in the middle, non stop Gun Threats

Knife - backhand slash
Knife - Hostage Situation

BEGINNER (B2)

Hammerfist to the Side
Drill: eyes closed, attacker pushes with a pad from the front or side; defender opens eyes and makes the appropriate strike, then continues with additional strikes
360 (include the idea of counterattacks; you do not need to make simultaneous counters at this level)
Drill: as above, but the attacker can also give a verbal signal and attack with any 360

INTERMEDIATE (D2)
Focus Mitt Combo: Left/Left/Right/Left Hook/duck right hook/Left Hook/Right Cross
Ground - Arm Bar
Ground - Defense v. Arm Bar (push leg over head and sit up)
Ground - Defense v. Arm Bar (packlock arms and spin out)

ADVANCED (D2)
Drill: Defend Combos 1-4 -- start with Combo #1, one person makes the attack and the other defends, then they switch roles.

Knife - Downward Stab (emphasize horizontal angles)
Knife - Off Angle (include chops in counterattacks)

Drill: 10 Punches, 1 Push Up

9 Punches, 2 Push Ups

8 Punches, 3 Push Ups

7 Punches, 4 Push Ups

6 Punches, 5 Push Ups

5 Punches, 6 Push Ups

4 Punches, 7 Push Ups

3 Punches, 8 Push Ups

2 Punches, 9 Push Ups

1 Punch,   10 Push Ups

Knees (Regular and Round)

Basic Takedown Defense (Changing height, moving feet)

Drill: Movement with partner, pad holder changes height or attempts a basic takedown, striker defends and delivers 2 knee strikes.

Choke from Behind with a Push

Drill: Groups of 3, one large shield, defender; non stop knees, attacker; choke from behind

 

Intermediate (D2)

Bobbing/Weaving/Slipping

Focus mitts- 2 Rounds of 2 Minutes

Round 1:  Jab/Cross/Hook/Slip/Slip/Cross

Round 2:  Jab/Cross/bob & weave/Cross/Hook

360 Defense with Counterattacks

Inside Defense v. Left Punch (live side)

Drill: defend any 360 or left straight punch (with inside defense v. Left Straight Punch)

 

Advanced (D2) 

Light Sparring

Gun from Behind (touching)

Gun from the side Behind the Arm

Knife- Downward Stab

Drill: Groups of 3, Focus Mitts- Defender continuously works the following combiantion- Uppercut/Hook/Cross-, attacker; attacks with any of the above Self Defense techniques.

 

 

 

BEGINNER CLASS (B2)

Combo: Elbow #2, switch feet, knee to pad
Choke Front Push

Drill: eyes closed, either attack!

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (D2)
Side Kick
Back Kick
Reverse Headlock Standing
Drill: eyes closed; attacker gives a signal from the side or behind, and the defender makes the appropriate kick, then continues with combatives OR the attacker pulls the defender's head down and makes a Reverse Headlock.

ADVANCED CLASS (D2)
Focus Mitts: Combo #8 (Right uppercut/left hook/right straight) and #9 (left uppercut/right cross/left hook)
Sweeps
Drill: attacker comes close and makes verbal threats; defender simulates elbow and makes a sweep; practice both sides
Gun from the Side, Behind the arm - practice both sides

BEGINNER (A2)
Palm Heel Strikes
Hammerfist to the Side
Drill: Striker eyes closed, pad holder bumps striker from the front or from the side, flurry of palm heel strikes until pad holder calls time, if bumped from the side, striker must deliver a side hammer fist strike, turn to face the pad and continue with palm heel strikes until time is called.
360 Defense
Choke from Behind
Drill: Groups of 3, Attacker is making 360 attacks at half speed, while the defender is reacting to the 360 attacks, the 3rd person makes an aggressive choke from behind, defender; strong defense and goes right back to defending 360s.

INTERMEDIATE (D2)
Thai Pads: any single strike for the first round; double up that strike for the second round; triple the strike for the third round.
Round Kick- emphasize high round kick
Front Kick Vert. Target- emphasize high front kick
Def. v. High Round Kick (Reflexive)
Def. v. High Round Kick (2 and 3 points of contact)
Def. v. High front Kick
Drill: Vision drill, recognize high front or round kick

ADVANCED (D2)
Thai Pads-
1st Round- Cross, Hook, 2 round kicks (Right leg)
2nd Round- L-Up, R-Elbow, clinch, 2 knees
3rd Round- 1 minute, both combos NON STOP!
Cavaliers 1-4
Ground- Defense v. Full Mount, Hands Pinned
Ground- Defense v. Full Mount, Wrists Together
