Drill: Monkey in the middle drill- non-stop strikes and self-defense. Make it intense.

Gun – from behind at a distance
Drill: Monkey in the middle drill + Push ups: non-stop Gun attacks and Strikes. On instructors signal down, defender drops down and does 5 Push ups while others are SAFELY bumping him/her with pads and yelling.

BEGINNER (B3)
Straight Punch Low
DRILL:
Groups of 2 Padholder, Striker. Striker sends Straight Low, orients and finishes with Straight blast until Padholder cues to “RESET!”.

Straight Punch Low Defense
DRILL:
Groups of 2, alternating roles. Determine who starts as Attacker. Attacker sends Straight Low, other defends. Attacker orients. Switch roles, so other person attacks. Keep alternating roles.

Front Choke 1-Hand Pluck

DRILL - FINAL:
Same alternating role drill as above, however attacker can choose to attack with Straight Low or Front Choke.

INTERMEDIATE (D3)
DRILL: Alternating Ground & Pound
Groups of 2, one on back holding Tombstone, other mounted. On “GO!” mounted person sends strikes, on “SWITCH!” pass pad to person mounted, bottom person sends strikes. Repeat for several passes. Rotate positions for round 2.

Ground Trap, Buck & Roll

Ground Side Mount to Full Mount
Ground Dismount from Top

DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 2. One begins in Side Mount. Attempts to move into Full Mount. Once in Full Mount, attempts to maintain as person on bottom attempts to gain dominant position.

Groups of 3, Striker, Padholder, Distractor. Striker sends all out strikes while Distractor attempts to hold arms/pull away.

REVIEW - Rear Headlock (Bar/Carotid)

Full Nelson - Finger Strip
Gun Rear to Head - Hostage

DRILL - FINAL:
Same as beginning, but Distractor can distract or apply any attack above.

BEGINNER CLASS (B3)
Punches- Straight Punch
Hammerfist to the side
Drill: Groups of 3, 2 pads, 1 round :60 seconds; striker non stop Straight Punches on pad; 2nd Pad holder bumps striker from the side; striker makes a Hammerfist strike to the side, turns and faces the pad and continues with Straight Punches.
Inside Defense
Choke from Behind with a push
Drill: Eyes closed; inside defense OR Choke from behind
Ground: Getting Up (From side position)
Finisher Drill: Ground - Getting up; Non stop knees on pad, until pad holder calls time.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (D3)
Back Kick
Combo: Back Kick/ turn face the pad/6 Knees
Choke from behind Against Wall
Drill: defender stands near wall, eyes closed; he either gets a light push, and delivers a back kick OR he gets choked and pushed against the wall. BE CAREFUL. MAKE SURE DEFENDERS TURN THEIR FACES WHEN THEY ARE PUSHED TO AVOID BREAKING THEIR NOSES AGAINST THE WALL.

Drill: Bearhug Behind, Arms Free or Full Nelson Sweep (if you don’t have good mats, just “show” the sweep, do not actually take your partner down

Front Kick – practice from passive stance, followed by straight punches
Round Kick
Round Kick – focus on various angles: downward, horizontal, upward
Drill: Horseshoe Drill Horseshoe Kicking Drill

Wrist Releases – discuss aggressive v. soft responses based on situation and stimulus

Arm Pull — burst forward with counterattacks
Drill: Aggressive or Soft — the defender has eyes closed; the attacker grabs the wrist, sometimes pulling aggressively; the defender react according to the aggressiveness of the grab with either a wrist release OR bursting forward with counterattacks.

Straight Punches – Left/Right Combo
Drill — Circle Drill — puncher makes Left/Right Combo, then moves in a half circle around the pad holder; after moving 180 degrees, make Left/Right Combo and move back 180 degrees. During movement, the puncher should be just outside of punching range. This is a basic drill for improving footwork.

Drill: begin standing up, throwing straight punches and hammerfist punches, then drop to knees and continue striking, then lie on your back and continue striking; then return to your knees, and then stand up. The striking should be CONTINUOS. Switch with your partner. Do 2 rounds. This is very tiring!
Guard Drill – maintain good posture while in the attacker’s guard
Guard Escape – gouge, posture up, striking groin
Guard – Arm Bar
Guard Drill: bottom person works for arm bar, top person works guard escape

ADVANCED CLASS (D3)
Punch One Direction, Kick Another (Straight Punch, Side Kick)
General Defense v. High Round Kick
Sliding Defense v. High Round Kick
General Defense v. Knife Slash (Live and Dead Side)

BEGINNER CLASS (B3)
Straight Punch

DRILL:
Strikers lying on belly, eyes closed. Padholders roam, cueing Strikers with pad tap. Striker gets up as quickly as possible, sending a burst of Straight Punches until Padholder cues to “RESET!”

Knees w/ Clinch

DRILL:
Grps 2, Striker, Padholder. Striker neutral, eyes closed. Padholder pushes off balance with pad. Striker gets balance, bursts in with punches, eventually transitioning to several knees. Reset.

Choke Rear w/ Push

DRILL - FINAL:
Defenders spread out around room, neutral, eyes closed. Attackers roam, choosing to cue with pad push for combo above or Choke Rear w/ Push.

Basic Takedown Defense (Spinning on centerline)

DRILL:
Grps 2, Striker, Attacker/Padholder. Striker standing, back toward wall. Padholder moves in simulating takedown. Striker defends/spins, pushing padholder against wall and finishing with knees to pad.

Choke Rear Against Wall
Bearhug Rear - Arms Free

DRILL - FINAL:
Grps 2, Defender, Attacker. Attacker applies Choke Rear Against Wall. Attacker can decide to disrupt Choke Defense, applying Bearhug.

DRILL - WARMUP: G&P Relay
Grps 2, at one end of the gym, one mounted on Kickshield. On “GO!” mounted person sends all out strikes to pad. Partner runs to opposite end of gym performing 3 burpees, then runs down to relieve striker.

GROUND SPARRING:
Grps 2. One minute rounds. Begin in various ground positions.

Face-to-Face Throw

Headlock Side, Spinning Inward

DRILL - FINAL:
Defenders neutral, eyes closed. Attackers roam able to apply: Hip Throw, mounting, requiring Defender to use Trap, Buck and Roll, Headlock Side, Spinning Inward OR Headlock Side.

Round Kick (also work switch round kick)
Drill: Thai Pads- 2-3 minute rounds, straight punch combinations with round kicks, add sprawls in the second round

Round 1- A's are the Aggressors- Open hands, light contact sparring, on instructors signal "Down" A's are taking their partner (safely) down with a hip throw and quickly mounting them, B's must work to gain a better position, quickly get up on their feet and continue with Slow sparring.
Round 2- B's are now the Aggressors- Same drill as above.
