Front Kick Vertical Target
DRILL: Strike + Exercise
Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder. Strikers sends a FKVT and 1 burpee, then FKVT + 2 burpees, repeat up to 5 burpees, then work back from 5-1.

Takedown Defense (changing height, moving feet)
DRILL:
Groups of 2, Striker, Attacker/Padholder. Defenders eyes closed, neutral stance. Attacker setups up at some distance from Defender. On instructor’s “OPEN!” eyes open and Attacker attempts to shoot in (in this case touch pad to Defender’s hips). Defender opens, defends takedown and sends a Knee burst until “RESET!”

360 Defense (Upper only, if time is limited)
DRILL: Alternating SLOW Work
Groups of 2. One sends an upper 360, Defender either blocks and follows up with a series of strikes OR sends FKVT and follows with series of strikes. NOTE: Speed/power of strikes should be low enough that strikes should actually make contact without harm.

DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 2, Striker, Attacker/Padholder. Defenders eyes closed, neutral stance. Attacker setups up at some distance from Defender. On instructor’s “OPEN!” eyes open and Attacker attempts to shoot in (in this case touch pad to Defender’s hips), send 360, or hold for FKVT. Defender opens, and defends/strikes appropriately and resets.

DRILL:
Groups of 2, Attacker, Defender. Attacker works through the list above, sending one attack for each defense. After working through one time, Defender switches stance and works defenses in opposite stance. After Defender has worked through both times, switch roles.

SPARRING:
30s rounds legs only. Multiple rounds, rotate partners.
30s rounds full sparring. Multiple rounds, rotate partners.

DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 2, Attacker, Defender. Defender begins in Ground Side Headlock. Defender attempts to gain dominant position. Switch positions each round.

Focus Mitt combos from opposite fighting stance.
DRILL:
Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder, at one end of the gym. On “GO!” Strikers send all out Straight Punches. On “SWITCH!” Strikers switch stance and continue striking. On “RUN!” Striker runs to opposite end of gym and back to pads. Repeat for several rounds.

Gun Front
DRILL:
Groups of 3, Defender/Striker, Padholder, Attacker. Striker sends strikes to pad. Attacker comes from behind Padholder pointing gun at Defender. Make defense and return to striking.

Advanced - 3rd Party Gun Front

DRILL - FINAL
Groups of 3, Defender/Striker, Padholder, Attacker. Striker sends strikes to pad. Attacker, standing behind Striker, cues to “RUN!” Striker runs forward, passed Padholder to whatever wall is directly in front of him/her. As Striker is running, Attacker points gun at Padholder. Upon running back, Striker defends Padholder, then returns striking.

Beginner Class (A1)
Warm Up: “Krav Maga Tango” (Fighting Stance facing partner @ punching range); 1 partner leads, other follows, Leader takes a step in any direction, wait for partner to respond by getting back in range

-Striker lies face-down on mat covering eyes
-Pad holder moves to a random location in the room
-Instructor yells, “GO”
-Striker must locate pad holder, sprint to them, deliver groin kick followed by a brief broken flurry
-Instructor calls, “TIME! Reset!”

Choke from Front (2 Handed)
Drill: 3-4 people (1 defender, 1 attacker for choke, 1-2 attacker(s) w/ tombstones)
Defender’s eyes shut, attacker chokes defender. Defender does 2 hand defense. Once defender reaches control position tombstone attacker gets defender’s attention and calls for groin kick followed by broken flurry punches. Defender resets & repeats.

Intermediate Class (A1)
Front Kick w/Advance (neutral & fighting stance)
Hook Punch
Drill: “Hit first, hit hard”; Pad holder holds focus mitts for advancing groin kick
Striker performs advancing groin kick followed by Cross-Hook-Cross (or Hook-Cross-Hook) combination (Safety-in-Training: Advancing groin strike must be light to protect pad holder’s wrists and hands from injury) Pad holder moves just out of range, process repeats

Bearhug from front (arm caught & free)
Drill: 3-4 people (1 defender, 1 attacker for bear-hug, 1-2 attacker(s) w/ focus mitts),
Defender’s eyes shut (standing w/ hands on hips like Peter Pan), attacker bear-hugs defender from front (either arms trapped or free). Defender does bear-hug defense; Once defender reaches control position focus mitt attacker gets defender’s attention and calls for advancing groin kick followed by combinations described above. Defender resets & repeats.

Advanced Class (A1)
Shadow Boxing: 2 rounds of 2 minutes (opposite stance)
2 rounds of 3 minutes of focus mitts (or Thai pads)
-1-minute regular stance
-2-minutes switch stance
-30-seconds rest between rounds

Gun from the Side- in front of the arm (both sides)
Drill: “Friend OR Foe?”
Groups of 5-8 people; 1 defender, 4-7 attackers with guns tucked in waistbands (easy draw location). Defender stands in middle of mat as attackers walk randomly within in 8’ or less of defender; 1 by 1, each attacker takes turns “bumping” into defender (as if on busy sidewalk). Upon bumping into defender, attacker either extends a hand for a handshake (friend) or pulls a gun and put it to defender’s side in front of arm (foe); Attackers should add in constant verbal chatter to confuse and disorient defender. Safety-in-Training: “Bump” does NOT mean “body check” or “knock down”. Be careful of accidental head-butts. Defender must identify threat/non-threat and respond appropriately

Drill: On instructor’s signal, Striker must drive the pad holder across the room using straight punches.

Ground – Back Position and Movement

Ground- Front Kick

Ground – Getting Up; practice getting up on both sides!

Drill: “Up – Down” — The entire class is Shadow boxing; On instructors signal “Down!” every one SAFELY sits down (no break falls) and quickly gets into Ground-Back Position, moving around as though some one is trying to flank them, switching legs as they move. One instructor signal “Up!”, execute a Front Kick and get up quickly using proper Ground-Getting up technique and continue shadow boxing.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

Combo #8 (right uppercut/left hook/right cross); then add right elbow

Bearhug Front Arms Free – neck leverage

Bearhug Variation — one arm free; try both neck leverage with one arm AND/OR groin strikes with the trapped hand

Drill: eyes closed, any bearhug variation from the front

BEGINNER (A1)
Palm Heel Strike
DRILL: Find Your Partner
Groups of 2. Both Striker and Padholder jog randomly around room. Instructor cues for any number. Padholder stops. Striker locates, run to and sends cued number of Palm Heel Strikes. Both return to jogging after strikes.

Hammerfist Side
Groups of 3, Striker and 2 Padholders. Striker begins sending all out Palm Heels on Pad 1. Pad 2 cues for Side Hammer. Striker sends, orients and sends PH burst, then moves so Pad 2 is stacked in front of Pad 1. Now sending a Palm Heel burst to Pad 2, Pad 1 cues for Side Hammer.

Choke Side
DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 3, Defender, Padholder, Attacker. Defender sends Palm Heels to pad. Attacker applies Side Choke. Defend, and finish with Attacker stacked to Pad. Reset with strikes on Pad.

Uppercut Punch
DRILL: Retzev
Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder. Padholder holds pad as if Straight Punches. Striker sends a continuous flow of Straights, Uppercuts, and Hammerfist Forward as fast as possible and in any combination. Repeat for several rounds.

Roll - Forward
Roll - Backward
DRILL: Retzev & Roll
Same as above. However, on Instructor’s cue of “Forward/Back” the Striker performs cued roll and returns to pad. Note Padholder must adjust either moving forward or back depending on roll.

Advanced: Gun Front
DRILL: FINAL Roaming Attacker
Same as above, but Attacker approaches from the front and points gun. Return to striking after defense. NOTE: Include rolls if room permits, being aware of roaming attackers position in room.

DRILL: Knees Slow & GO! (after sufficient warmup)
Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder. Striker begins holding Muay Thai Clinch sending LIGHT, fast knees, alternating striking leg each strike. On “GO!” send all out HARD knees. On “Slow!” return to fast, light knees.

REVIEW: 360 & Inside Defense
Alternate attacker/defender after every attack.

REVIEW: Knife Downwad, Upward and Straight Stab

DRILL - FINAL: Roaming Attacker.
Defenders scattered, neutral, eyes closed. Attack show Knife Threat. During defense attacker can attempt to pull away and send any Knife attack. Reset after defense.

360 Defense
DRILL:
Same as above, but Roaming Padholder can cue for Side Hammer OR pad swing for 360.

Choke Rear
DRILL - FINAL:
Roaming Attackers apply Choke Rear. As defense is made, Attacker can choose to jump back from defense and send 360 attack.
