Intermediate (C2)
Drill: A/B Drill
Ground- Guard Reversal
Ground- Elbow escape (Quick Review)
Flow Drill: Guard Reversal to Elbow Knee Escape- Groups of 2; start from mount, elbow to knee escape, guard reversal, now the person on the bottom does the same series of moves. Repeat!
Reverse Headlock Standing
Drill: Groups of 3; defender; Strikes from the mount, 2nd person safely tackles defender off the pad, mounts, defender; makes elbow escape and transitions to guard, from there makes guard reversal, stands up, 3rd person then immediately attacks with Reverse Headlock, defender makes a strong defense and Resets.

 

Advanced (C2)

Warm up with Level 1,2 & 3 techniques
2 Front Kicks with a Switch
2 Straight knees with a Switch
Knife – off angle upward stab (live and dead side)
Knife – off angle downward stab (live and dead side)
Drill: Groups of 4-5; one defender, 10 Burpees, 30 seconds non-stop strikes any Level 1, 2 & 3, plus Knife.

Beginner Class (A2)

Knees- First singles, then doubles, then triples; focus on thai clinch to hold

Round Kick

Combo- Round Kick/Knee with the same leg

Inside Defense

Headlock from Behind

Drill: Thai Clinch, non-stop knees, defend headlock from behind and then continue with knees.

Intermediate (C2)

Thai Pads, build to a combination of: Right Cross/Left Hook/ Right Round Kick/ Left Hook/Right Uppercut/ Switch Round Kick

Inside Defense v. Left/Right

Defense v. High Round Kick (2 & 3 Points)

Bearhug Behind Arms Free

Drill: Striker non- stop combinations on thai pads, defend Bearhug Behind Arms Free and continue with working the pads

Advanced (C2)

General Strikes to a large kicking shield

Drill: pile of pads in the middle of the room; students must crawl get a pad; if they don’t get a pad they are striking non-stop until the drill resets (make it tiring!)

Sweep with Heel Kick

Long Gun from Behind touching (both sides)

Gun from Behind (touching)- Looking over left shoulder

Drill: Non-stop strikes on pad, defend Long Gun from Behind touching or Gun from behind touching.

 

Beginner Class (A3)
Warm Up: Shoulder Tag (switch partners randomly every 30 seconds). After 2 minutes, drill becomes shoulder and knee tag.
Front Kick (Groin)
Knees
Combo: Front Kick/Knee (Same Leg) – work both sides
360 Defense
Choke from Behind
Drill: Group of 3. First person attacks second with single haymaker strikes. Second person defends using 360s. Third person randomly attacks first person with choke from behind between haymaker attacks. First person defends against choke from behind before returning to throwing haymakers at second person.

Heel Kick
Focus Mitt Drill: Strikers start in passive stance, eyes closed. Pad holder approaches from left or right side, and calls any combination 1-4. Striker opens eyes, delivers heel kick to focus mitt and follows up immediately with combination called by pad holder.
Bearhug Front (lifting)
Bearhug Behind (lifting)
Drill: A/B drill. Group A stands in passive stance with eyes shut. Group B randomly attacks from the front or rear with bearhug (lifting) or verbally gets defenders attention and holds a focus mitt for a heel kick. Defender responds appropriately, finishes the fight with combatives and returns to passive stance.

Advanced Class (C3)
Jumping Round Kick
Thai Pad Drill: Free work combinations. All combinations must end with a jumping round kick.
Gun from the Side (front of arm)
Gun from Front (pushing into stomach)
Drill: Roaming attacker (Groups of 5). 1 person is selected to be an attacker, the remainder break off into pairs. Free work on thai pads (must include some jumping round kicks). Attackers roam about the room and randomly attack strikers only with gun from the side in front of the arm or gun from front pushing into the stomach. Striker’s defend, finish the fight, and return to pad work. 5 rounds so everyone has a chance to serve as attacker.

Thai Pads 3 rounds of 2 minutes

Gun Front Regular Defense

Gun Front 2-Handed technique

Gun Front while attacker is pushing, slapping, grabbing the defender

BEGINNER CLASS (A2)

Straight Punches/Palm Heel Strikes

Drill: striking 30 seconds with a 15 second break; 5 rounds

Front Kick Vertical Target

Drill: kicking 30 seconds with a 15 second break; 3 rounds

Choke Front with a Push

Choke Behind with a Push

Rotation Drill: groups of 3 — Person #1 holds for punches at one end of the room; at the other end, Person #2 stands with eyes closed; Person #3 makes Choke Front Push or Choke Behind Push to Person #2; Person #2 defends, then sprints across the room while Person #3 stands with eyes closed; Person #2 makes 10 left/right combinations, then takes the pad; Person #1 runs across the room and attacks Person #3. They rotate continuously.

 

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (A2)

Defensive Front Kick

Bearhug Behind Arms Caught

Drill: eyes closed, any bearhug OR verbal signal and the defender makes defensive frontkick OR push with pad and make counterattacks with close range weapons

ADVANCED CLASS (A2)

Thai Pads 5 rounds of two minutes, include sprawls, emphasize footwork especially in the later rounds as the striker becomes fatigued.

Knife Upward Stab

Knife Upward Stab — work at very, very close range (defender might take the first stab; try to control after that)

BEGINNER (A2)

DRILL:

Groups of 2. One person attacks with Straight Punch High or Low, other defends. Alternate back and forth. When instructor cues to “RUN!” each person must run and touch BOTH walls on opposite end of the gym before returning to original spot and resuming attacks/defenses.

Choke Rear w/ Push

DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 3, A, B, C. (A) attacks (B) with either Straight Punch High or Low. (C) attacks (A) with Choke Rear w/ Push. After defending, (A) returns to attacking (B). Repeat for time then rotate positions.

DRILL:

Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder. Striker sends either an Inside Slap Kick, Outside Slap Kick, Round House Kick, or Inside Round House Kick based on Pad cue, then follows with a burst of Straight Punches until Padholder cues to “RESET!”

Defense vs High Front Kick (Redirect)

DRILL:

Groups of 2, both with shin guards and Thai pads. One sends a High Round Kick, other Redirects. After redirection, Attacker holds pads for any of the kicks above. Defender sends appropriate kick and finishes with burst of Straight Punches until Attacker cues to “RESET!” Switch beginning Attacker each round.

Reverse Headlock Standing

DRILL - FINAL:

Roaming Attackers. Defenders begin just in front of a wall, eyes closed, spinning slowly. Depending on position of Defender at the point of attack, Attacker either pushes back into wall, or spins to face forward, then applies Reverse Headlock Standing. Reset after defense.

DRILL: Guard Position/Control

Groups of 2, one in guard. Person pulling guard attempts to pull in/control other person to them using legs and arms. Other person attempts to create space, get to feet. Switch roles after every round.

DRILL: Slow & GO! Strikes in Guard

Groups of 2, person on bottom pulls guard and holds pad across chest. Person in guard Stacks and on “GO!” sends all out strikes to pad, resting on “SLOW!” Repeat for several rounds then switch.

Ground - Knife Attacker in Guard

DRILL - FINAL:

Defenders on backs, eyes closed. Roaming Attackers, knives tucked into waistband) dive into guard. Defenders pull guard and attempt for Leg Triangle. If Triangle is achieved, or at any point before, Attacker can pull knife and begin stabbing.

Beginner Class (A2)
Palm Heel Strikes
Elbows 6 & 7
Choke from the front (1-handed)
Headlock from behind
Drill: Group of 4. 1 striker, 1 tombstone pad holder, 2 attackers. Pad holder calls for palm heel combinations, elbows, and groin kicks. Attackers choke striker from front or headlock striker from behind. Striker defends and returns immediate to pad work. Safety note: attackers should verbally get striker to stop throwing strikes BEFORE attacking the striker. Especially attackers intending to choke from the front. Yelling, “Choke! Choke! Choke!” is a good option.

Intermediate (C2)
Defensive Front Kick
Drill: Groups of 3, Striker, Pad1, Pad2. Striker sends all out strikes to Pad1. Pad2 approaches from around either side of Pad1. Striker sends Defense Front Kick and returns to striking Pad1.
Ground – Kick off from Guard
Drill: Groups of 3, Striker, Pad1, Pad2. Same drill as above, however Pad2 can approach for defensive front kick or cue Striker “DOWN!” into Ground Position. Pad2 then dives into Striker’s guard and pins chest to chest. Striker must Kick Off and return to striking.
Ground – Foot Grab Stripping
Ground – Spin Inward (if time)
Ground – Spin Outward (if time)
Drill: Groups of 3, Striker, Pad1, Pad2. Same drill as above, however Pad2 can approach for defensive front kick or cue Striker “DOWN!” into Ground Position. Pad2 then dives into Striker’s guard and pins chest to chest. Striker must Kick Off and return to striking.

Advanced (C2)
Review Knife Downward/Upward Stab
Sweep with Heel Kick
Drill: Knife Defenses from passive stance, adding sweeps into the combatives
Review Trap, Buck, and Roll
Knife Defense – Attacker Mounted
Review Guard Reversal – Scissor sweep
Knife Defense – Attacker in Guard
Drill: Defenders neutral, eyes closed. Attackers roam with knives in waistbands. Attacker sweeps Defender to ground and either mounts or dives into guard. Attacker can begin attacking with knife immediately or give Defender a chance to defend/gain position of advantage for a bit before drawing.

Beginner Class (A3)

Left/Right Combination

Front Kick Groin

Drill: Groups of 2, one small shield, the pad is placed in the center of the room between the two partners, partners are at opposite sides of the room facing away from the pads, doing push ups. On instructors signal "GO", they must get up, run to grab a pad. The person that grabs the pad first is either holding or punches or front kick groin. Strikers; non-stop punches or kicks until “TIME” is called. Reset & Repeat!

Head Lock From Behind

Ground- Getting up

Drill: Groups of 3, one small shield, Defender starts on their back, gets up and attacks the pad with straight punches, attacker; at any given time makes a headlock. Reset!

Intermediate (C3)

Belt Drill

Hook Punch

Uppercut Punch

Combination: Left Uppercutt/Right Cross/Switch Left Round Kick (left leg)

Combination: L/R Uppercut/Left Hook/Right Cross/Right Round Kick

Defense v. Low Round Kick (absorbing)

Drill: Light Sparring-2-90 second rounds- include low round kicks

Hair Grab Front

Advanced (C3)

Drill: Monkey in Middle- groups of, one person in the middle; strike one pad until hit with the other pad; turn with appropriate strikes and engage that pad, etc. 75 seconds each person

Headlock from the Side- review

Headlock Spinning Inward

Headlock- Neck break

Drill: attacker makes a headlock; the defender defends, and the two people end up on the ground; immediately, both should begin fighting for a position of dominance

Beginner (A2)
Straight Punch with Advance
Straight Punch with Retreat
Drill: eyes closed, partner holds pads in normal range, close range or a step out, partner has to open eyes and make appropriate punch
Choke from behind with a push
Drill: Groups of 3- defender starts eyes closed, pad holder says "Hey!", defender makes and advancing or Retreating punch followed by a punch flurry, 3rd person comes up from behind and makes choke from behind with push, defender defends, then resets.

Intermediate (C2)

Drill- defender; eyes closed, bearhug from front is made, defender defends and a 2nd attacker attacks with a pad that the defender has to send combatives to until pad holder calls "Time!"

Advanced (C2)
Mouth of Hand Punch
Focus Mitts- Combination: Jab/Cross/Hook/Mouth of Hand Punch
Focus Mitts- 2 rounds of 3 minutes- Opposite Stance- Include Mouth of Hand Punch
Gun from Behind touching
Drill: light sparring, at any point attacker comes up and holds gun to the defenders back, defend then go back to sparring
