Advanced (A2)
Drill: Striking Transition- non stop striking drill; the attacker starts in a standing position, striking on pad; then he drops to his knees, then to his back, then again back to his knees, then standing.. but never stops striking! Alternate with partner, three rounds each
Knife- defense v. downward stab- (work both sides & different angles)
Ground- Def. v. Full Mount, hands pinned
Drill: Groups of 3 and a small pad; Defender starts on the ground and defends against Full Mount, Hands pinned, stands up, non stop strikes on pad, attacker; gives a verbal signal, Knife- downward stab- (either side, off angle)

Intermediate (A1)

Warm-up Drill: Ground and Pound Relay; Groups of 2; one at one end of the mat, one mounted on curved kickshield. On “GO!” mounted person sends all out strikes to pad. Partner runs to opposite end of gym performing 3 burpees, then runs down to relieve striker.

Headbutt Forward

Headbutt to the Side

Combatives Drill: Striker begins in neutral with eyes closed. Pad holder gives verbal cue at very close range from either the side or the front. Striker performs appropriate headbutt, then when pad holder takes a step back, follows up with mid-range Level 1 combatives, i.e. punches/palms, or hammerfist to side followed up by punches/palms until pad holder calls "TIME!"

Advanced Technique: Gun from the Front

Drill: Ground and Pound Relay Remix; Groups of 2; one partner mounted on curved kickshield; the other partner standing at other end of the mat in neutral with eyes closed with a training gun and another curved kickshield next to them. Striker throws 20 Ground and Pound strikes to kickshield then sprints to partner and can either verbal cue for Combatives Drill from earlier OR make Gun from the Front attack. Defender makes appropriate defense and then sprints to kickshield while Attacker takes their place.

Advanced (A1)

Axe Kick

Drill: Target recognition on curved kick shield; 2 punches, FKG, Round Kick, Axe Kick, or Jumping Front Kick

Drill: Add sprawls

Knife – threat, def. to dead side

Knife – threat, def. to life side

Drill: A/B Drill: Have defenders standing with their backs to a wall. Roaming attackers can apply Knife – threat, def. to dead side, Knife – threat, def. to life side, or any beginner/intermediate technique (especially Choke from the Front Against a Wall!). Defenders make sure to make space away from wall after defense.

**Bonus: can establish cones or landmarks in the room as exits/safety points and have defenders sprint to exit after making defense.**

Drill: Defender starts eyes closed. Attacker bumps with kick shield for elbows 1-3, followed by knees until “time” is called, or alerts the defender and attacks for 360s.

Drill: gun techniques hold packages, bags, etc. in hands; ALSO, gunman moving, pointing the gun in different directions so that the defender must wait for an opportunity.

Beginner Class (A1)

Drill: Groups of 2, small shield; Pad holder calls out even number of punches for the striker to do (2-4-6), on instructors signal “GO”, striker sprawls, quickly stands up and makes non-stop punches on pad until instructor calls “TIME”.

Front Kick to a Vertical Target

Combo: Front Kick to a Vertical Target followed by L/R Combination

Choke form Front (2 Handed)

Drill: defender eyes closed; either defend Choke from front OR on pad holders signal “OPEN” make Front Kick to a Vertical Target follow by non-stop punches until pad holder calls “TIME”.

 

Intermediate Class (A1)

Focus mitts- Left Uppercut/Right Uppercut/Left Hook/Right Cross

Kick off from Guard

Choke from the Side on the Ground – show kicking first, similar to kick off from guard

Drill: Choke from the Side — if the attacker stays close, use arm bar; if you can make space, kick him away; get up and work focus mitts (use today’s combo) then drop down and restart.

3 Round Drill

Knee strikes with a Switch

Thai Pads- 2 rounds of 3 minutes- Basic Combinations, add a Right Elbow followed by a Left Knee after EVERY combination.

Drill: Monkey in the Middle; Groups of 3; 2 Padholders and 1 Striker. Striker begins on 1 pad with nonstop, aggressive Palm Heel Strikes. Padholder 2 can verbal cue or tap Striker from the side or behind. Depending on location and range, Striker must throw a hammerfist to the side or Elbow #2 or Elbow #3, then turn and face 2nd Padholder, throwing follow-up palm strikes until they get another tap or verbal cue from Padholder 1.

Wrist releases

360 Defenses

Drill: A/B Drill with Non-compliant attacker. Divide class into A's and B's. A's are stationed throughout room with eyes closed. B's are roaming attackers and can apply any of the following: 1) grab the wrist and back off after wrist release, 2) push or verbal cue and make 360 attack, or 3) grab the wrist aggressively and pull, then when wrist release is performed, make 360 attack.

Intermediate (A1)

Drill: Combinations 8 (rear uppercut/lead hook/cross), 9 (lead uppercut/cross/lead hook), and 10 (cross/lead uppercut/cross)

Drill: Reload! Double up on the last strike, i.e. 8 = rear uppercut/lead hook/cross/cross, 9 = 9 lead uppercut/cross/lead hook/lead hook), 10 = cross/uppercut/cross/cross

Drill: Get off line! After the combination, Striker step/pivots or bursts to the side of their last combative and throws another cross, i.e. Striker throws an 8, then bursts right and throws a cross. The goal is to be looking at the side of the bad guy's head when they move offline.

Bearhug from the Front, Arms Free

Ground – Kick off from Guard

Drill: Partners; both wearing gloves. Attacker holds gloves like focus mitts and calls for combinations from earlier. On instructor's call of "CLINCH!" Attacker attacks Defender/Striker with Bearhug from the Front, Arms Free. Have attackers make bearhug dynamic with forward pressure, forcing Defender to get their footing and stabilize before launching knees. Once Bearhug defense is made, students return to combinations. Switch roles before moving on to Final Drill.

Final Drill: Now instructor also calls "DOWN!" Defender/Striker lies on their back and Attacker gets in their guard and postures up. Defender makes Ground – Kick off from Guard, performs Tactical Get-up, and students reset the drill with combinations. Discuss having attacker in guard as the result of a sloppy takedown, and the potential for losing footing on Bearhug.

Advanced (A1)

Scissor Round Kick

Thai Pads

Round 1: Basic combinations with round kick

Round 2: Basic combinations, replacing the round kick with Scissor Round Kick

Round 3: Basic combinations in opposite stance

Gun to the Side of the Head

Drill: Groups of 3; 1 Padholder; 1 Attacker; 1 Striker/Defender. Padholder holds for either 6 hand combatives to pad or Scissor Round Kick. Attacker can make Gun to the Side of the Head at any time. Defender must make defense then immediately return to pad.

Beginner Class (A1) 
Warm Up: “Krav Maga Tango” (Fighting Stance facing partner @ punching range); 1 partner leads, other follows, Leader takes a step in any direction, wait for partner to respond by getting back in range

Quick Drill: “Krav Maga Tango”; include punches and Groin Kicks
Drill: “Find the threat”. Striker lies face-down on mat covering eyes. Pad holder moves to a random location in the room. Instructor yells, “GO!” Striker must locate pad holder, sprint to them, deliver groin kick followed by a brief broken flurry. Instructor calls, “TIME!” once all strikers find their pad holders. Repeat.
Choke from Front (2 Handed)
Drill: 3-4 people (1 defender, 1 attacker for choke, 1-2 attacker(s) w/ tombstones)
Defender’s eyes shut, attacker chokes defender. Defender does 2 hand defense. Once defender reaches control position tombstone attacker gets defender’s attention and calls for groin kick followed by broken flurry punches. Defender resets & repeats.

Intermediate Class (A1)
Uppercut Punch
Retzev DRILL: Groups of 2. Tombstone pad holder holds pad for Straight Punches. Striker sends a continuous flow of Straights, Uppercuts, and Hammerfist Forward as fast as possible and in any combination. Repeat for several rounds.
Roll – Forward
Roll – Backward
DRILL: Retzev & Roll. Same as above. However, on Instructor’s cue of “Forward/Back” the Striker performs cued roll and returns to pad. Note Pad holder must adjust either moving forward or back depending on roll.
Advanced: Gun Front
DRILL: FINAL Roaming Attacker
Same as above, but Attacker approaches from the front and points gun. Return to striking after defense. NOTE: Include rolls if room permits, being aware of roaming attackers position in room.

Advanced Class (A1)
Shadow Boxing: 2 rounds of 2 minutes (opposite stance)
2 rounds of 3 minutes on focus mitts (or Thai pads). 1 minute regular stance, 2 minutes switch stance, 30 seconds rest between rounds
Gun from the Side- in front of the arm (both sides)
Drill: “Friend OR Foe?”
Groups of 5-8 people; 1 defender, 4-7 attackers with guns tucked in waistbands (easy draw location). Defender stands in middle of mat as attackers walk randomly within in 8’ or less of defender; 1 by 1, each attacker takes turns “bumping” into defender (as if on busy sidewalk). Upon bumping into defender, attacker either extends a hand for a handshake (friend) or pulls a gun and put it to defender’s side in front of arm (foe); Attackers should add in constant verbal chatter to confuse and disorient defender. Safety-in-Training: “Bump” does NOT mean “body check” or “knock down”. Be careful of accidental head-butts. Defender must identify threat/non-threat and respond appropriately

Sparring: 2 minutes rounds, 30 second rest; do 5-8 rounds depending on group size
