Drill: Horseshoe Drill
Drill: A/B/C Sprint Drill: Groups of 3; 2 curved kick shields per group. A’s stand with pads at one end of the mat holding for Left/Right Combination. B’s stand at opposite end of mat holding for Horseshoe Drill. C’s stand in between A and B. On instructor’s call of “A!” C sprints to A and throws nonstop, hard straight punches. On instructor’s call of “B!” C sprints to B and kicks for Horseshoe Drill. Instructor should vary the length of time on the pad and sometimes C doesn’t make it to A or B before having to sprint again.
Choke from the Front, 2 handed Pluck
Choke from Behind
Drill: A/B Drill. A’s are staggered in neutral position with eyes closed. B’s are roaming attackers and can apply Choke from the Front, 2 handed Pluck or Choke from Behind. 2 minutes then switch roles.

Round 2: Same as Round 1, but every combination begins with Headbutt Forward
Round 3: Puke Round! 30 seconds of power Left/Right combinations, 30 seconds of two power hooks left and 2 power hooks right, 30 seconds of 2 straight punches to a sprawl, 30 seconds of straight punches for speed.
Kick off the Guard
Ground- Choke from the side- show kick first, similar to kick off the guard
Ground- Choke from the side- Arm Bar
Ground- Headlock Side Backward
Drill: eyes closed. Attacker; makes choke from the side or headlock from side. When defending Choke from the side- if the attackers stays close, use arm bar; if you can make space, Kick him away; After each successful defense, get up and work focus mitts (use today’s combo) then drop and restart.

Round 1: 1K-10K
Round 2: Add a cross after each combination. Emphasize returning to a good stance immediately following round kick in order to throw a cross with knockout power.
Round 3: After the combination followed by a cross, add a lead switch knee to rear elbow. Have students play with stepping forward with lead leg after the lead knee in order to be in elbow range.

Drill: 50/50 clinch, attacker disengages right arm and draws knife for upward stab

Drill: partner calls out even numbers (mostly 2, 4, 6) and striker makes that many punches, leading with forwards hand. At least twice during the round, the partner calls out a number of higher than 10.

Drill: Partners; Curved Kick Shield. Distance recognition. Pad holder can hold at close, medium, or long range. Striker makes appropriate combative depending on distance.
Drill: Find your partner: Partners begin with distance recognition from previous drill. At any time, Instructor calls “DOWN!” and Striker does a push-up while Pad holder runs to a different spot on the mat. Striker must find Pad holder, sprint to them, and make nonstop straight punches until Instructor calls “TIME,” at which point students go back to Distance Recognition.
Choke from the Behind
Final Drill: 1 curved kick shield holder; 1 attacker; 1 defender/striker. Pad holder holds for Distance Recognition. Attacker can apply Choke from Behind at any time. Defender/striker makes defense and immediately returns to pad.
Intermediate (C1)
Thai Pads
Round 1: Everything is a power shot! Combination 1: lead hook/lead hook/rear kick/rear kick.
Combination 2: cross/cross/lead kick/lead kick.
Round 2: Pad holder can call for any combination with a round kick (1K-4K or 1K-10K depending on their familiarity), followed by a cross. Emphasize students returning to a good stance after the kick in order to hit a powerful cross.
Round 3: After all combinations ending in a rear kick, add a lead hook/cross (i.e. 1K= Jab/rear kick/lead hook/cross). All combinations ending in a lead kick, add a cross/lead hook (i.e. 2K= jab/cross/lead kick/cross/lead hook).

Drill: 1 partner attacks, the other defends. Defender stands in passive stance, eyes shut. Attacker gives verbal cue and attacks after defender opens their eyes.
Advanced Drill: have an advanced student or instructor roam around training area with a training knife and step in randomly as an attacker for the drill above.
INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C1)
Hook Punch
Focus Mitt Drill “Read & React”: Round 1: Focus mitt holders swing big looping hooks at strikers. Strikers bob & weave underneath, then throw the appropriate hook punch. Round 2: Focus mitt holders wind-up and throw a straight punch. Strikers slip the punch, then throw the appropriate hook punch. Round 3: Focus mitt holders may throw hooks or straight punches for strikers to read and react to. As the round goes on, mitt holders should progressively tighten up their punches so there is little to no wind-up by the end. Note: Focus mitt holders should not punch faster unless their striker has good recognition with slow punches & no wind-up.
Front kick with Advance (fighting & neutral stance)
Ground – Kick off from Guard
Drill: 1 striker, 1 tombstone pad holder. Striker throws advancing groin kick. Immediately after the kick, pad holder throws the pad off to the side and takes the striker down (basic takedown/tackle) into full guard. Striker must kick off from guard, stand up, then the drill repeats.

Focus Mitt Drill: 3 Rounds. Free work combinations mixing in spinning heel kicks

Striker makes elbow followed by 2 palm strikes and a Front Kick Groin, then returns to palm strikes on padholder #1.
Wrist releases
360 defense v. Haymaker
Drill: A/B Non-compliant attacker. Attacker makes wrist grab. Defender makes wrist release. Attacker can disengage or follow up attack with Haymaker. Defender makes 360 with follow-up combatives. Emphasize wrist releases looking non-aggressive, but shifting gears as soon as haymaker in motion.

DRILL:
Groups of 2. Alternate between Attacker/Defender, sending Uppercut and defending.

Same as above, but replace Uppercut attack with Straight Stab (both begin with knife in hand). On cue, find new partner.

Gun Front 2 Handed Technique
DRILL:
Groups of 3, Defender, Padholder, Attacker. Defender sends all out strikes to Pad. Attacker approaches from either side of Pad and points gun. Defend and return to striking.
Advanced Gun Front – Kneeling Position
DRILL:
Defenders neutral/eyes closed. Attackers give verbal cue. If close enough, Defender should use 2 Hand defense. If too far away, Attacker will order to knees and approach. Once close enough, defend using Kneeling defense.
Advanced Gun Front – Mounted
DRILL – FINAL:
Defenders eyes closed, transition between standing, kneeling and laying on back. Attackers roam giving verbal/tactile cue. Defend from position appropriately and return to transitioning eyes closed.
