Palm Heel Strikes

Round Kick

DRILL:

Grps 2, Striker, Padholder. Striker sends all out Palm Heels. On holder’s “KICK!” cue, striker stops striking, as padholder steps back to hold for either side Round Kick. Then returns to striking. Repeat for time. Switch after each round. Increase Round Kick per cue by 1 each round.

Choke Front - 1 Hand
Defenders neutral, eyes closed. Roaming attacker can cue with Choke or pad push for burst of Palm Heels or Round Kicks depending on pad hold. Attacker cues to “RESET!”

DRILL - WARMUP:

Grps 2, Padholder, Striker. Striker sends a single HARD knee without clinch, attempting to drive partner back. Alternating striking knee each time.

Grps 2, Padholder, Striker. Striker sends a single HARD knee without clinch then DFK, attempting to drive partner back. Alternating striking knee each time.

Bearhug Rear - Arms Caught

DRILL - FINAL:

Grps 2. Attacker, Defender. Defender neutral eyes closed. Attacker applies Bearhug. During defense, attacker can transition to Headlock Reverse for additional defense.

DRILL - WARMUP:

Grps 2, Padholder, Striker. Striker neutral, eyes closed. Padholder swats with pad to cue, Striker orients, cliches and sends blast of 3-4 Knees before reseting.

Inside Defense with Counter v. Left Punch

Inside Defense with Counter v. Right Punch (1 and 2 counters)

Drill: defend and counter left or right punch

Drill: Partner A makes Straight Punch with advance; Partner B practices Inside Defense with Counter Attack; at any time, a wandering attacker makes Bearhug From Behind, Arms Free; Partner A defends, then returns to making Straight Punches to Partner B.

 

ADVANCED CLASS (C2)

Focus Mitts: Combos 1-9

Sweep with Heel Kick

Focus Mitts: combos 1-9, sometimes pad holder calls "sweep" to end combo; defender sweeps pad holder (gently).

Front Kick with Advance - review, emphasize neutral stance

Gun from the Front, 2 handed technique; after the basic technique, add resistance from the attacker including trying to maintain gun control using the left hand, punching with the left hand, and moving around; defender must move his feet, keep chin tucked, and find opportunities for additional combatives before disarming.

Drill: partner call out event numbers (mostly 2, 4, 6) and striker makes that many punches, leading with forwards hand. At least twice during the round, the partner calls out a number of higher than 10.

Drill: Ground Position and Movement against partner holding a pad; when the partner moves in, the defender kicks the pad; if the partner moves back after the kick, the defender gets up; as the defender gets up, the partner moves forward again, and the defender makes front Kick Vertical Target and 6 straight punches; then reset.

Drill: punching or kicking, gunman makes gun threats from the side or behind or from distance orders defender to kneel, then approaches; defender; makes the appropriate defense.

BEGINNER CLASS (C1)
W/U DRILL: Bull in Ring : Punches
Striker stands in the middle of 2-4 padholders. Padholders cue for striker to send all out strikes to their pad, turning if necessary.
Basic Takedown Defense (Changing height, moving feet)
DRILL:
Grps 2: Def, Atk. Def eyes closed. Atk cues from various distances before attempting takedown.

Knees w/ Clinch
DRILL:
Same as above, but after defending takedown, Def sends knees.

Wrist Release Defenses

FINAL DRILL:
Def neutral, eyes closed. Atk can cue with wrist grab or shoot in for takedown.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C1)

DRILL:
Def eyes closed. Atk cues from various distance. Defend if possible, or get taken down.

Bearhug Front - Arms Free (Leverage on Neck)
Ground - Guard Defense (Leverage on Neck)
*Same “hug and peel” as bearhug, peel head to ground and roll into mount.

FINAL DRILL:
Def eyes closed. Atk can cue with bearhug or cue for takedown. If taken down, defender can use Guard Defense to gain dominant position.

ADVANCED CLASS (C1)
W/U DRILL:
Striker places padholder in Muay Thai clinch and sends light/fast alternating knees. On instructor’s “HIT!” striker sends next knee full power, returns to light/fast strikes. Repeat for several rounds. End with GO! GO! GO! for all out knees.

360 Defense w/ Counter (Focus on Lower attacks)
Knife Defense v. Upward Stab
Knife Defense v. Upward Stab (Shank Defense)
*Attacker grabs shirt with opposite hand and stabs repeatedly. Defender defends stabs, performs elbow pull and moves to dead side.

FINAL DRILL:
Headgear and gloves on. Attacker attacks with shank attack. Defender can actually send counters to head before elbow grab.
NOTE1: Due to gloves, attacker will have to grab shoulder versus shirt.
NOTE2: Defender may not get as good a grip on elbow, but should still work.
