"The test of a good teacher is not how many questions he can ask his pupils that they will answer readily, but how many questions he inspires them to ask him which he finds it hard to answer."
Congratulations to Ernie van Gorp for passing his 2nd Degree Black Belt test on Sunday, February 5, 2012. Ernie is an excellent instructor. One of Ernie's most impressive qualities is his understanding of technique, even though his is very large and can use brute strength whenever he wants to! Ernie is a consummate professional, and we are proud to have him as such an important part of the Krav Maga Alliance!
We would like to congratulate two new Krav Maga Alliance Black Belts: Jeroen Weeteling and Rafael Vijlbrief.
Not only did they have to fight Ernie van Gorp on the ground and standing up (this is not easy; Ernie is a giant), they had to fight him after 5 hours of training. Perhaps the most impressive fact is that they volunteered to take a Green Belt test and then a Blue Belt test in order to prepare. That means they tested for 3.5 hours on Wednesday, 4.5 hours on Thursday, and then 5.5 hours on Friday. They earned their Black Belts!
Congratulations to all the new Level 2 instructors who attended the recent Dallas certification. You guys worked hard! (And sorry for those who missed the photo due to plane flights!)
This video discusses two common student mistakes. First, we discuss the student's habit of dropping the hand, and how to fix it. Second, we discuss a common mistake of lowering the body weight instead of driving upward into the punch.
A short discussion of the foot pivot on hook punches, especially with the forward foot. Instructors should be aware that, while a foot pivot can be an effective teaching tool, it should not be overused or overdone.
Dear Krav Maga Alliance Affiliates & Instructors,
As some of you may know, the Alliance has produced its first commercial, and we are making it available to you! You have three options for receiving the video files:
Option # 1 (FREE): includes video, but does NOT include voiceover, music, or ending graphics, so you can customize with your own material;
Option #2 (FREE): includes video, voice over, and music, but does NOT include final graphic or final v.o., so you can customize the final tag for yourself.
Option #3 ($250): our colleagues, Pixel Mobb, will take Option #2 and customize for you within 24 hours. We strongly RECOMMEND this option, as we find Pixel Mobb to be fantastic to work with. We do not make a commission if you use them. We just think they are good!
If you wish to use the commercial, the process is simple.
1. Email erica@kravmagaalliance.com to request the commercial
2. We will email you an agreement to sign (there is NO cost for this; it is just an acknowledgement that this video is covered under your affiliation agreement, and that you have a right to use it only so long as you are an affiliate).
3. Return the signed agreement. We will then send you the appropriate file OR Pixel Mobb will contact you to customize your version.
We hope you find this commercial to be a helpful marketing tool!
