Beginner:
Hammerfist forward/down

Choke from the side
Drill: Barricade drill - eyes closed, attacker makes choke from the side. Defender defends, goes through the barricade to make hammerfists to pad holder till pad holder calls time.

Intermediate:
Inside defense with counter v. Left punch
Inside defense with counter v. right (2 counters)
Inside defense with counter v. Right (1 counter)
Choke from behind with a pull
Drill: 3 person drill - 1 person defends against punches with an inside defense & counter. 3rd person does choke from behind with a pull to the person punching. Then reset.

Advanced:
Fancy kicks
2 Back kicks with a switch
scissor front kick
scissor round kicks
Knife defense v. downward stab
gun - under the chin, in mouth, grabbing hair
Drill: defender eyes closed, attacker either makes gun or knife attack

Beginner:
Review advancing punches
Inside defense - practice one side then the other, then mix up R and L
Straight punch low
inside defense against straight punch low - practice one side then the other, then mix up R and L
Drill: One attacks, one defends. Partner can throw right or left punches, high or low. Defender practices their inside defenses high/low

Intermediate:
Thai pad work 2 rounds - hands (last 30 sec non-stop R/L), hands and feet (last 30 sec make a combo sprint and back)

Drill: Divide into groups of 3. One person holding the pad, defender makes punches until the 3rd person attacks with one of the hairgrabs. Defender defends and goes back to punching.

Advanced:
Work fancy kicks:
Jumping front kick
Jumping side kick

Headlock from the side, spinning inward
Drill: make combatives to pad including fancy kicks, until attacker comes to make headlock from the side.

Beginner:
Advancing punch
Drill: eyes closed, partner holds pad either in normal punch range or a step out, partner has to open eyes and make the appropriate punch.
Choke from behind with a push
Drill: Groups of 3 - Defender starts eyes closed, pad holder says "hey!", Defender makes and advancing punch followed by a punch flurry, 3rd person comes up from behind and makes choke from behind with push, defender defends, then resets.

Intermediate:
Front Bearhug day!
Bearhug front arms caught
Bearhug front arms free (with space)
Bearhug front arms free (no space) leverage on the neck
If time - Bearhug front (lifting)
Drill: Divide the class into A/B. A's close their eyes, b's attack anyone in the room with a front bearhug.

Advanced:
General defense V. medium to high kicks
Sliding defense v. high round kicks
Gun from behind touching
Drill: light sparring including high kicks, at any point an attacker comes up and holds a gun to the defenders back, defend then go back to sparring.

Front kick to groin - front leg and neutral stance
Choke from the front 2 handed pluck

Intermediate
Bearhug from the front arms Caught

Drill - defender has eyes closed bearhug from front is made, they defend and a 2nd attacker attacks with a pad that the defender has to send combatives to until pad holder calls "time".

Thai pads from opposite stance

gun from behind (touching)
Drill - 1 person in the middle with attackers with pads coming in from different directions 180 degrees from the front, or an attacker from the back puts gun in the defenders back.

Focus Mitts - Left/pivot right/Left Uppercut (on the Left, the left foot should advance on a slight angle toward the attacker's left side)
Outside Defense v. Right Punch
Inside and Outside Defenses (light sparring, one attack, one defend)
Zombie Drill
2 v 1 -- defender makes defenses against Attacker #1; when Attacker #2 makes a punch, the defender should use an Outside Defense and then move so that he is not in the middle; now he makes defenses against Attacker #2 only; when Attacker #1 makes a punch, the defender makes an Outside Defense and moves to face him only, etc.

ADVANCED CLASS (C3)
Focus Mitts - Left/Right/pivot left/Right Uppercut
Focus Mitts - Left/pivot right/Left Uppercut (on the Left, the left foot should advance on a slight angle toward the attacker's left side)
Drill: use the combinations above, and add a shoot for a single leg takedown; the student should make the movement for position only, not the full takedown (unless you want to teach the whole thing)

Drill - Belt Drill!
Basic Takedown Defense
Knees -emphasis on Round Knees (be sure to explain that Straight Knees are preferred)
Choke From Behind
Drill: as the defender makes Choke From Behind, the attacker tries to grab; the defender makes a Basic Takedown Defense, and continues with counterattacks. Be sure this is done safely and slowly, especially at the beginning of the drill!

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C3)
Uppercut Punch -- various distances
Drill: pad holder holds focus mitt for single punches at various angles from Uppercut to Hook, and several angles in between
Defensive Back Kick with a Spin
Drill: groups of 3; one person practices Hook or Uppercut to focus mitts; third person holds kicking shield and calls out for kick; the striker must deliver Defensive Back Kick with a Spin, and then return to punching
Bearhug Front, Lifting
Bearhug Behind, Lifting

ADVANCED CLASS (C3)
Side Kick Review
Defense against Side Kicks (review medium and high side kick defenses)
Jumping Side Kick

Knees - spinning on the centerline (explain concept of using attacker as a shield)

360 - include counterattacks
Drill: 2 attackers; defender's eyes are closed; on verbal signal, the defender opens his eyes and either makes Front Kick Vertical Target/Knee combination or defends 360 and counterattacks; in either case, the defender must then spin to avoid a 2nd attacker

Drill: Punch/Push Up Drill

Hip Escape from Side Control
Drill: groups of 3; defender punches a pad; an attacker makes Bearhug From Behind, Arms Caught; the defender makes the defense; HOWEVER, if the attacker says "Down!" the defender must go down to the ground (slowly, safely) and the attacker takes side control. The defender must escape, stand up, and continue punching

ADVANCED CLASS (C3)
Interference Drill
Knife Downward Stab - defense and counterattack only at first
Kick v Downward Stab -- make hand defense with counterattack, create distance; add kick if the attacker pursues

BEGINNER CLASS (A3)
Movement
Straight Punches
Drill: after left/right combination, the pad holder pivots to a new angle; the puncher must move to this new angle and make left/right combination; it's a drill to practice movement
Front Kick Review
Round Kick
Ground - Back Position & Movement
Ground - Front Kick
Ground - Round Kick; emphasize recovering to Back Position after the kick
Get Up from Ground
Drill: movement while up or down -- start on ground; pad holder circles while defender moves to keep his feet toward the pad; the pad holder steps in and the defender kicks and gets up; now practice punching and moving while standing (like the first drill); repeat

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C3)
Focus Mitt Combo: Left Hook/Right Straight
Focus Mitt Combo: Left Straight/Right Uppercut
Bearhug Neck Leverage
Ground - on the bottom in guard, apply neck leverage here. EXPLAIN that this is a drill; against a more experienced grappler you will need to understand hip movement as well as neck leverage.

ADVANCED CLASS (C3)

Spinning Outside Slap Kick
Defense v. Spinning Outside Slap Kick (just like Round Kick Defense)
