INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C2)

Punching from Full Mount

Belt Drill: groups of 2; striker starts in full mount on top of a pad with a belt around his waist held by a partner; after the striker strikes the pads for a while, the instructor yells "go!" and the striker jumps up and sprints across the room and back while the partner holds him back with the belt; the striker returns and continues to strike the pad.  2 times each person

Basic Takedown Defense

Failure Drill: gently train on Basic Takedown Defense; the defender should fail and the attacker should take him gently to the ground; the defender should pull guard

Kick Off From Guard

Guard Reversal

Drill: Basic Takedown Defense/gentle takedown/Guard Reversal

 

ADVANCED CLASS (C2)

Overhand Right Punch

Combo #9: Overhand Right/Left Uppercut/Overhand Right

Conditioning Drill: 3 rounds of 2 minutes -- for the first round, make L/R or 1 Front Kick or 1 Round Kick or 1 Sprawl/Knee on command; for the second round, do 2 of each; for the 3rd round, do 3 of each.

Defense v. Front Kick Groin (redirect)

Drill: Defend any straight attack

ADVANCED CLASS (C2)

Drill: the gunman should struggle and resist during the control part of the technique

Headlock From Behind

Advance technique:

Gun From Behind

Drill: Disturbance/Self Defense/4-5ppl

1 attacker/ 1 Defender/2-3 Pad holders

-Defender in the middle

-Pad holders- bump, shove defender, at the same time, yell, shout and create chaos

-Defender- Hands up for protection, weather the storm, make the appropriate defense as soon as attacked..

-Attacker- at any given time, attack with either Head Lock from behind or Gun from behind

 

Intermediate (C2)

Focus Mitts: Left/Right Combinations

Drill: Focus Mitts with Disturbing- Pad holders strike partner continuously while partner covers and absorbs; when pad holder slaps mitts together, the partner makes left/right combination, then the pad holder goes back to striking. Drill should be fast and aggressive.

Bearhug Behind Arms Free

Ground- foot grab strip

Ground- foot spin inward

Drill: groups of 3; one defender, one attacker and one pad holder; defender starts on the ground with eyes closed; foot is grabbed, and he/she must make the appropriate defense, gets up and makes  non stop strikes on the pad, attacker makes an aggressive Bearhug from Behind, reset after a successful defense.

 

Advanced (C2)

Basic Combatives to kicking shield, include side kicks and back kicks

Drill: eyes closed; when bumped with pad, deliver initial combative to appropriate angle, and continue with strikes

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C2)

Outside Slap Kick (just for fun!)

Combo: Left Outside Slap Kick/Right Cross/Left Knee

Bearhug from Behind Arms Caught

Drill: the attacker should make Bearhug From Behind from a slight angle; the defender must try to attack on one side and then the other until he finds an opening.

Drill: as above, but the attacker should try to move or take the defender off balance.

 

ADVANCED CLASS (C2)

Drill: Interference Drill

Knife Downward Stab - live side

Knife Downward stab - dead side

Knife Downward stab - vs. left handed attacker

Knife - downward stab any angle

 

Beginner (A2)

Movement

Straight Punches

Belt Drill: 30 sec, 10 sec rest, 45 sec, 15 sec rest, 30 sec

Front kick - groin

Choke from the Front (1-Handed)

Choke from Behind

Drill: groups of 4; monkey in the middle with two pad holders; defender makes straight punches and Front Kicks- groin; now and then, the fourth person does Choke from the Front or Choke from Behind

 

Intermediate (C2)

Muay Thai Pads- 3 Rounds of 2 Minutes

Round 1- Basic Combinations

Round 2- Basic Combinations plus High Round Kicks

Round 3- POWER shots! Single techniques- Striker doubles up on and delivers each technique with MAXIMUM POWER.

Bobing and Weaving (Quick Review)

Defense v. Left/Right

Defense v. High Round Kick (2 and 3 points)

Drill: Light Sparring- Include High Round Kicks

 

Advanced (C2)

Overhand Right Punch

Combo- R-Cross, L-Uppercut, R-Overhand

2 Front knees with a switch

Knife – attacker holding defender with left hand

Knife – off angle upward stab (live and dead side)

Knife – off angle downward stab (live and dead side)

Knife – off angle straight stab (live and dead side)

Drill: Groups of 3; Focus Mitts- Pad holder; calls out basic combinations for the defender, Attacker; attacks with any of the Knife defenses above. After a successful defense, defender gets back on working the pads.

BEGINNER CLASS (A2)

Straight Punch with Advance

Inside Defense

Inside Defense v. Straight Punch Low

Headlock from Behind

Drill: groups of 2 PLUS some random attackers; in each group, the attacker makes Straight Punch or Straight Punch Low; the defender practices the defenses; the random attackers walk around and make Headlock From Behind to any of the attackers (not the people defending punches).

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (C2)

Straight Punches, Elbow #1, Knees (review)

Defensive Front Kick

Drill: eyes closed; attacker starts either close or farther away and gives a verbal signal; the defender opens his eyes and makes attacks appropriate to the distance.

Arm Bar - practice both sides

Drill :partner is on top in mount; he puts one arm or the other forward; the defender must attack that arm as quickly as possible

Drill: practice an arm bar, then (gently ) kick the attacker's face and stomp so that his face looks away from you, then get up;

ADVANCED CLASS (C2)

Sparring: open hand sparring, 3 rounds -- advanced students use opposite stance

Gun to the Side, Behind the Arm

Gun to the Side, Front of Arm

Gun, difficult angle -- muzzle touching the shoulder; for this technique you often must use the off-side hand

Beginner (A2)

Straight Punch with Advance

Straight Punch with Retreat

Drill: Striker eyes closed, Pad Holder; holds pad either close to or at a distance from striker, gives a verbal signal, depending on attackers position, striker either Advances forward with as straight punch or Retreats with a straight punch

Headlock from Behind

Ground- Getting up (Quick Review)

Ground- Side position

Drill: Groups of 3; 1 defender, 1 attacker, 1 pad holder; Defender starts on Side position, gets up and advances towards pad holder with non stop straight punches, at any given time attacker makes Headlock from Behind; Reset after a successful defense.

 

Intermediate (C2)

Uppercut

Hook Punch

Focus Mitts- L-Hook, R-Straight, L-Hook

Focus Mitts- L-Uppercut, R-Hook, L-Straight

Outside Slap Kick

Bearhug from Front (Arms Free)

Advanced Training: Gun from the side, Front of Arm

Drill: defender; eyes closed, attacker makes Bearhug from Front or Gun from the side
