Drill: drag across room - ground and pound a pad with partner holding a belt around waist; on command, get up and sprint to end of room and back with partner holding belt for resistance

Drill: left hand only, defend high or low

Drill: right hand only, defend high or low

 

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (B1)

Focus Mitts: Combo #3/bob and weave to your left/Left Hook/Right Cross

Headlock from the Side going backward

Drill: with non-compliant attacker, try to escape headlock; however long it takes you, that's how long you must punch, once you stand up: third person acts as pad holder and timekeeper!

ADVANCED CLASS (B1)

Punching 1 Direction, Side Kick in Another

Drill: focus mitt work with partner; second pad holder makes threat, and defender makes side kick, then returns to focus mitts

Guillotine - standing (this is not in normal curriculum) -- to make standing guillotine, wrap arm under neck, pull up and sit hips down and inward

Drill: light sparring, designated attacker shoots in, defender makes standing guillotine

BEGINNER CLASS (B1)

Warm Up with Straight Punches and Front Kick to the Groin

Drill: partner moves around and gives targets for straight punches OR front kick

Choke From Behind with a Push

Drill: attacker makes Choke from Behind with a Push; defender makes the defense; sometimes, attacker yells "down" and the defender must drop down after making the defense (as if they had fallen), and must make a kick, then get up

Focus Mitts: Left/Right/Left Elbow #1

Ground - Defend Kick to Head (defend like round kick)

Drill: sparring with one attacker (lightly); second attacker makes Full Nelson; execute sweep and counterattack; defend against first attacker while on ground, get up, then continue sparring 2nd attacker

John Whitman Talking to Krav Maga Alliance Group

STW Self Defense & Fitness in San Antonio, TX is going to be the place to be from May 14 - 17, 2015.

First, the Krav Maga Alliance is going to be conducing our 2-day KMA Business College on the 14th and 15th. Presented by Paul Garcia, well known martial arts school owner and business coach, the KMA Business College will feature talks from KMA founder John Whitman, Revgear founder Paul Reavlin, and STW Krav Maga owner Pete Hardy. The featured topic will be the Krav Maga Basics Intro and Enrollment Program which has been proven to help Krav Maga gyms increase the number of Krav Maga students.

Then, stay for the two-day Revgear University on the 16th and 17th, at this very same location. John Whitman, Paul Reavlin and Pete Hardy will also be doing talks and demonstrations at Revgear University, which will feature other martial arts celebrities such as Mark DellaGrotte, Erik Paulson, and a special StrikeFit class coached by KMA StrikeFit Program Director Rachel Greenbaum.

Drill: Groups of 3, defender starts on the ground, Front kick, gets up and attacks the pad with non stop punches, attacker; makes a headlock from behind, defender makes an aggressive defense and gets back on the ground.
Intermediate (B1)
Muay Thai Pads- opposite stance
Round 1- Cross, Hook, 2 Right Round Kicks, Right Knee
Round 2- Cross, Hook, Cross, 2 Left Round Kicks, Left Knee
Round 3- Put the two combos together (Cross, Hook, 2 Right Round Kicks, Right Knee,

Drill: Groups of 3, Thai pads; Basic combos on pads, attacker; makes a 360 attack.

Outside Stabbing defense v. Front Kick
Drill: Movement- defend against either attack- start of slow, then pick up speed.
Ground - Fallbreak back, high
Ground- Backward Roll
Drill: Groups of 2, one large shield- Fallbreak back, high/ Backward Roll/ get up/ fighting stance- Defensive front Kick.
Advanced (B1)
Thai Pads- Combo #6 & 7, plus Knee- Work both sides
Gun to the side of the Head
Gun from the front, 2 handed technique
Axe defense v. Overhead
Drill: Monkey in the Middle Drill - Everyone's favorite!
Groups of 4-5, one pad; defender non-stop counter attacks on the pad, attackers- any level one, two or 3 attacks, plus attacks from todays lesson. Round one-moderate speed, round 2- fast and aggressive!

BEGINNER (B1)
Retreating Straight Punch

Choke from the Side

Final Drill:
Grp of 3, Atkr, Defr, PadH. As Defr performs retreating punch, attacker applies Side Choke. Defend and return to striking.

INTERMEDIATE (B1)

Ground Defense vs. Choke Full Mount

Final Drill:
Grp of 3. Defr, 2 Atkr. Attacker attacks defender on ground with either Headlock/Choke. Defender gets up and is attacked with 360 by second attacker.

ADVANCED (B1)
Review Mount Escapes (Trap/Buck/Roll + Choke/Headlock, Side Mount
Review Back Fall Break, Forward/Backward Rolls

Full Nelson - Throw

Final Drill:
Perform either Full Nelson defense, defender then attempts to mount attacker (Side or Back), commence ground fight for dominant position.

Ground - Elbow Escape from Full Mount

Drill: groups of 4; start on ground, make Elbow Escape to stand up, then continue with drill as above until group leader says "down!" Reset and continue

 

ADVANCED CLASS (B1)

Thai Pads: Combo #3/block right low kick/Combo #3

Sparring: 10 second rounds (90% speed, light contact) with a 5 second break to find a new partner; 15 rounds

Gun from the Front - attacker pulling back on the gun or falling down from the punch

Drill: eyes closed; Choke from the Side OR partner pushes with pad and defender makes palm strikes until pad holder called "time."

Drill: defend straight punches or 360 attacks; any time a 360 attack comes, try to make 360 with Counter Attack

Drill: start on the ground, make Trap and Roll, then get up and defend straight punches and 360 attacks; reset

 

ADVANCED CLASS (B1)

Sparring - 2 slow rounds of 90 seconds

Sparring - 3 rounds of 90 seconds, light contact, 80% speed

Gun from the Front

Gun from the Front - to the head

Gun from the Front v Left Handed Gunman (make regular technique OR 2 handed technique, leading with right hand)

Drill: slow fighting, open hands; at any time, a third person can make Gun Threat from the Front to either fighter
