BEGINNER CLASS (B3)
Distance Continuum (if your group does not have basic striking, this drill might take too long) - Groin Kicks, Straight Punches, Knees, Elbows -- defender practices moving in and then back out, using appropriate weapons at all ranges. Do this drill slowly at first, then explosively -- they should be exhausted by the end!
Choke from Behind with a Push - practice both sides (this will make a longer lesson)
Drill: attacker chokes from behind, but pushes from a slight angle; defender must react appropriate based on the angle of attack
INTERMEDIATE CLASS (B3)
Side Kick
Drill: eyes closed, attacker either gives a verbal signal from either side OR shoves defender from other side; defender must decide on the appropriate weapon based on the distance: elbow, hammer fist, or side kick; then continue with combatives

Drill: as above, but include Hair Grab from the Side AND all chokes and head lock from Level 1.

Combo: from a modified fighting stance (de-escalating) -- right hook/simple takedown/side control
Drill: this drill is meant to practice decision-making. Should you take the opponent down or not? Start with eyes closed; the defender is approached by the pad holder and possibly a second assailant; pad hold pushes defender's chest; defender opens his eyes and makes a right hook; if the pad holder is alone, it's OK to make the takedown; if there are other opponents, the defender should finish the punch combination.
Note: if the defender takes the pad holder down and there are multiple opponents, the other opponents should attack the defender; defender must then deal with the second attacker.

Defender; Make the appropriate defense and sprints towards pad holder putting them in a Thai clinch and delivers non-stop knee strikes until pad holder call time! Then rotate.. (Defender is now the pad holder, Pad Holder is now the Attacker and Attacker is now the Defender)
Keep rotating until the instructor calls Time!

Bearhug From Behind, Finger Leverage
Drill: Monkey in the Middle with Push ups- the defender begins by striking one pad; when he is hit by a different pad holder, he turns with hammer fist to the side, and continues with combatives. One attacker with no pad can make Bearhug From Behind (the defender should make finger leverage). At any time, the Instructor yell "DOWN!" and the defender does push up while being struck LIGHTLY with the pads, then gets up and continues.
