BEGINNER (B1)
Warmup Drill: Movement Maze
Set a course of cones throughout the room. Students stand facing forward at the "start" and must navigate from cone to cone while always facing forward. Course should be set so students must move forward, back, left, right in fighting stance.
Straight Punch w/ Retreat
Elbows 4-7
Headlock from Behind
*In addition to the regular partner practice, incorporate a portion allowing students to try to intercept the headlock before it gets locked in. Attacker should attempt to be sneaky. Start with the defender's eyes open. Add some with eyes closed.

Final Drill:
Defender sends retreating punches. Additional attacker can approach and cue for rear elbow (suggest 4 or 3) for safety, or can attack with Rear Headlock.

INTERMEDIATE (D1)
Advancing Front Groin Kick
Reflexive Defense vs. Front Kick
Outside Stabbing Defense vs. Front Kick

Drill: Reaction
Defender moves from kneeling to standing. Attacker can send Front kick at any point during the defender's movement requiring the appropriate, or adaptation, of the Front Kick Defenses.

Rear Choke w/ Pull

Final Drill:
Attacker applies Rear Choke w/ Pull. During defense, attacker can attempt to get out of defense and send Front Kick. Defender must defend the kick and reset.

ADVANCED (D1)
Warmup Drill: LIGHT Kicks
Padholder walks around striker cuing for various stomp kicks (front kick vertical target, side, back). Striker sends light/medium power kicks.

2 Jumping Front Kicks
2 Back Kicks w/ Switch
One Arm Shoulder Throw
Headlock Behind, attacker jumping (throw)

Final Drill:
Cue for 2 Jumping Front Kicks (as attacker is stunned by the ninja awesomeness) finish with One Arm Shoulder Throw. Can also cue rear for 2 Back Kicks w/ Switch. Finally can tactilely cue by jumping for Rear Headlock Throw.

BEGINNER CLASS (B1)

Palm Strikes

Drill: non-stop strikes on instructor's command, end each flurry with a sprawl

Round Kick

Combo #1 with Round Kick

Combo #2 with Round Kick

Choke from the Front (1 Hand Pluck)

 

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (D1)

Drill: Belt Drill -- 3 rounds each person, alt

Reflexive Defense v. Front Kick

Inside Defense with Counter v. Left

Inside Defense with Counter v. Right (2 counters)

Inside Defense with Counter v. Right (1 counter)

Drill: eyes closed, passive stance, react to any o the attacks above

 

ADVANCED CLASS (D1)

Plucking/Rowing Defense v. Side Kick (use as part of warm up)

Sparring - hands and feet, 1 minute rounds

Drill: sparring as above; but one group closes it's eyes; in the other group, each person chooses a new partner and initiates the attack by pushing; the first person reacts and the fight begins

Gun from the Front, 2 Handed Technique

Beginner (B1)
Palm Strikes
Drill: Eyes closed, passive stance, pad holder shoves the defender from the front lightly' defender must open eyes and make Palm heel strikes until pad holder calls "Time!"
Headlock from behind (work both sides)
Line Drill: 5-6 ppl per line; 1st person on line is the defender, everyone else is attacking, Headlock from behind (either side). Rotate defenders.

Intermediate (D1)
Basic Combatives
Drill: Monkey in the Middle- groups of 3, one person in the middle; strike one pad until hit with the other pad; turn with appropriate strikes and engage that pad. 60 seconds each person
Ground- Choke from the side
Ground- Headlock side Forward
Drill: Defender on their back eyes closed, attacker; Choke from the side, Headlock side Forward

Advanced (D1)
Light Sparring
- Round 1- Hands only- one defender and one attacker, movement, block, bob and weave. (no counters) switch!
- Round 2- same as above- Add kicks
- Round 3- Add counters
Ground- Leg Triangle from the Guard
Ground- Guillotine

Drill: Focus Mitts

Striker; non-stop straight punches, the instructor calls out a number of forward rolls (ie. 2, 3, 4….), the striker must execute the number of forward rolls called out by the instructor. Be sure to stay in front of your partner, stand up as soon as you’re done.

Advanced (D1)

Thai Pads: 2 rounds of 2 minutes

Combos: Power Shots!

20 Straight punches- 2 Sprawls

20 Hooks- 2 Sprawls

10 Round Kicks (Right)- 2 Sprawls

Grps 3. Defender, Attacker 1, 2. Attacker 1 sends straights high or low. Attacker 2 can apply Rear Headlock to ATTACKER 1 at any point.

DRILL - WARMUP:

Grps 2. Striker/Attacker, Defender. Striker begins in mount, defender holds pad across chest. On “GO!” striker sends all out ground strikes. On “DEFEND!” striker STOPS STRIKING, defender throws pad to side and performs Trap, Buck and Roll. Switch roles after each round.

Gun - Advanced, Kneeling Position

Ground - Guillotine

Ground - Defense vs. Guillotine

DRILL - FINAL: Role Reversal

Grps 2. A/B. A begins on knees, B standing with gun. As B attempts defense, A can attempt to push B to ground. If B is successful, complete defense. If B is pushed over, gun should be thrown away and A mounts B. B applies Guillotine, A defends and finds gun. Repeat for time.

BEGINNER CLASS (B1)

Combination: Left/Right/Left Knee

Combination: Left/Right/Left/Right Knee

Elbows 4-7

Drill: eyes closed; pad holder strikes the defender from various angles behind and the sides; defender gives the appropriate elbow, then turns to give additional strikes.

Drill: Back Kick from either side, then turn and make additional counters

Choke from Behind Against Wall

Drill: stand facing wall; from behind, attacker pushes with pad then holds for Back Kick OR makes Choke from Behind Against Wall

Light Sparring - open hands

One Arm Shoulder Throw

Drill: one attack, one defend; defender makes One Arm Shoulder Throw

Gun from Behind, Touching

Gun from Behind, Hugging Technique

Drill: as above, but a second attacker makes gun threat from behind to the defender at any time

Single Leg Takedown ("toe pick")

Drill: cover against multiple punches, drop down and make low single leg takedown

Ground - defend kicks while on the ground against multiple attackers (cover head, use basic shin blocks)

Stick Overhead

Drill: start on ground, cover against multiple attackers who are kicking AND one attacker using padded stick; make a low single when possible, get up and defend stick

 

Beginner (B1)

Drill: eyes closed, shoved from various frontal angles, punch until pad holder calls time

Drill: Defender; eyes closed, shove, make punches or Choke from behind with a push

Combo: Side Kick turn Back Kick (with opposite leg)
Ground- Defense v. choke full mount
Drill: Groups of 2, Defender starts on the ground, eyes closed, attacker; mount striker, shove them with a pad and hold for punches or choke from the mount

Advanced (D1)
Warm up- Side Kick, Front Kick, Round Kick, Back Kick
Drill: Groups 5, Kicking shield; striker in the middle, pad holders give a verbal signal; striker make the appropriate kick and follow up with counters until called to another pad. Two Rounds; first round slow, second round fast.
Advanced Gun- From Kneeling position
Rotating Drill- Advanced Gun- From Kneeling Position

Advanced Gun- under chin, in mouth, grabbing hair etc.

Advanced Gun- from Kneeling Position

Drill: Punching or Kicking, gun under chin, or gunman from distance orders defender to kneel, then approaches; defender must make the gun defense from a Kneeling position
