Thai Pads Combos 6 & 7, emphasize high round kicks
Sliding Defense v. High Round Kick
Gun from the Side, Front of Arm
Drill: make the gun defense, emphasize attacker reacting and fighting; defender must control and give counters with knees and head butts until making the disarm

Drill: A/B Drill — one person in the middle, 2 pad holders, one at each end of the room. One holds for punches (A), the other for Front Kick Vertical Target (B); instructor calls out where to go, and the person in the middle sprints there and strikes.
For added difficulty, include a sprawl in the middle of the room every time they run

Drill: Inside Defend Straight Punch or Low Round Kick
ADVANCED CLASS (A3)
Slow Fighting – no gloves, light strikes with open hands, light contact
Stick Overhead – defense v. off angle (dead side)
Practice this also against an attacker making a downward swing with two hands or an attacker swinging downward with the right hand, but from the left side of the attacker’s body
Drill: groups of 4; defender fights with one attacker using open hands; second attacker picks up stick to attack; fourth person calls out warning, and the defender must break off and defend the stick.
BEGINNER (A3)

DRILL: Slow & GO!
Grps 2, Padholder, Striker. Striker alternates between sending Hammerfists based on cue of “Slow”=still striking but focusing on form/power and “GO!”=all out burst.

Wrist Releases
DRILL - FINAL:
Grps 3 Striker, Attacker, Padholder. Striker begins mounted on pad, Attacker standing near, Padholder stands behind Attacker some distance away. On “GO!” Striker sends Ground & Pound to pad. On “UP!” Striker stands and Attacker applies any wrist defense as the Padholder begins to approach. Once wrist is released, Striker should perform FKVT+HF Combo to pad, or alternate combination, depending on distance.

DRILL:
Grps 2, Padholder, Striker. Striker at one end of room, eyes closed. Padholder approaches from various distance. On “OPEN!” Striker opens eyes and sends DFK to pad.
NOTE: Depending on experience, add in additional counter strikes.
Outside Defense 1-5
Hair Grab Behind
DRILL - FINAL:
Roaming Attackers. Defenders begin center of room, eyes closed. Attackers can cue verbally for DFK or Outside Defense, or physically with Hair Grab Behind.

Drill: non-compliant attacker -- attacker makes Choke from Behind; defender makes the defense; as the defender tries to counter, the attacker steps back, then steps forward with a big 360 attacker; defender makes the 360 defense, then finishes with more counterattacks

Focus Mitts: Combo #7 (Left Hook/Right Straight/Left Hook) - emphasize bursting forward on the first hook

Drill: eyes closed, either self defense attack or push defender, then hold for Combo #7.
ADVANCED CLASS (C3)
Focus Mitts: Left/Right/step and pivot right/Right Cross

Knife from Full Mount
Drill: Partner 1 makes the Combo lightly to partner's hands, then makes takedown and takes full mount and pulls out knife; Partner 2 makes defense against Knife from Full Mount

Front Kick Groin
Drill: Groups of 2, one small shield, the pad is placed in the center of the room between the two partners, partners are at opposite sides of the room facing away from the pads, doing push ups. On instructors signal "GO", they must get up, run to grab a pad. The person that grabs the pad first is either holding or punches or front kick groin. Strikers; non-stop punches or kicks until “TIME” is called. Reset & Repeat!

Ground- Getting up
Drill: Groups of 3, one small shield, Defender starts on their back, gets up and attacks the pad with straight punches, attacker; at any given time makes a headlock. Reset!

Roaming attacker can cue for Elbow + Clinch/Knees or Choke Rear.

DRILL/FLOW - FINAL:
Grps 2. Padholder cues for Combo 1-4 to gloves, striker adds opposite side RHK. Partner step/catches RHK and sweeps. Partner enters guard and gouges/stacks to return to standing. Switch “Padholder” after every flow.
