Basic Takedown defense
Drill: striker delivers non stop knees on pad, anytime during the round, pad holder changes levels to simulate a takedown, striker must make the basic takedown defense and continue with knees

Drill: Groups of 3, one large shield; attacker puts defender in full mount; defender must defend against the mount using today’s ground techniques to get to his/her feet and then attack the pad with non-stop knees until pad holder calls time! Rest!

Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder. Padholder cues for FGK by presenting pad. Striker can send either kick. However Padholder should also occasionally bias the pad toward one side or the other, indicating Rear or Front kick.
360 Defense
DRILL:
Groups of 2, Striker, Padholder. Padholder swings pad for 360 defense. After defending, pad recovers and holds for FGK + Straight Burst.
NOTE: Strikers must wait for pad to be in position for counters, but Padholder should try and recover and present as quick as possible.
Choke Front w/ Push
DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 2, Defender, Attacker. Defender neutral/eyes closed. Attacker can cue with Choke/Push or verbal cue to 360 Attack. Defend choke or 360+Kick+Straight Burst.

Same as above, but attacker also has 360 as an attack option.
Bearhug Rear - Arms Free
DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 3. Defender, Attacker 1, Attacker 2. Attacker 1 sends attack options above, Defend accordingly. Attacker 2 can apply Rear Bearhug to Attacker 1 at anytime. Repeat for time and rotate positions.

DRILL - WARMUP:
Groups of 3, Striker, Pad1, Pad2. Striker sends all out strikes to Pad1. Pad2 cues from either side for Hammerfist Side. Strikers sends, orients and continues striking on Pad2. Pad1 cues…Repeat for time.

DRILL:
Same as above, but Pad cues for either Hammerfist Side or Outside Chop depending on distance.

KMA, meet Takeshi Nishio from Maga Gym in Japan!
Takeshi is a 1st degree Black Belt with Krav Maga Alliance, a certified KMA Force instructor and proficient in MMA, Grappling and BJJ. Takeshi has been teaching Krav Maga since 2004 and on average spends a 1,000 hours a year teaching civilians and the Japanese Self-Defense Force. His teaching experience is considered one of the biggest in Japan.

Drill: Each student grabs a partner. The instructor has the group close their eyes and hands about a third of the group a knife, with instructions to hide the knife in the back of their waistband. The group starts the "touching shoulders" drill, but at any time a student with a knife can start attacking with multiple downward stabs.

Bobbing/weaving/slipping punches
Focus mitts - pad holder calls combinations 1-10, but occasionally throws straight or hook punch. Striker does appropriate head movement to avoid punch and counters with combo #6 or #7

Thai pads - with the pad holder wearing shin pads, run the same drill as with the focus mitts, but the pad holder can also throw a high round kick. The striker defends and counters with combo #6 or #7
Drill: each student gets a partner, both wear boxing gloves and shin pads. One partner attacks with a kick, 0-5 punches, and another kick. On defending the last kick, the other partner immediately returns with the same pattern.

Drill - starting with the gun touching from behind, the attacker may respond in one of several ways: pull the gun away as the defender starts to move, fight the control of the gun after the defender latches on, or they can fall to the ground immediately after the counter as if knocked unconscious.

Same as above, but switch who moves. So Striker finds spot in room. On “GO!” Pad locates, runs to and attempts to touch pad to hips. Striker defends and sends burst of Knees. On “RESET!” Striker finds new location.
Headlock Rear
DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 3, Defender, Padholder, Attacker, scattered around room. On “GO!” Striker locates, runs to and sends all out knees to Pad. On “ATTACK!” Attacker runs to Defender and applies Headlock Rear. On “RESET!” everyone scatters around room.

DRILL1: Defense Chain
Groups of 2, gloves on. One person goes first sending a series of 3 Hooks with the forward hand. The other person defends each Hook by Covering, then Extending, then Bob/Weave. After coming out of the Bob/Weave, the defender sends a series of 3 Hooks with the rear hand… Both continue to alternate back and forth for time. Do another round with the other person sending 3 forward Hooks to work both sides.
DRILL2: Hook Sparring
Groups of 2, gloves on. Alternate back and forth, each getting to send one Hook, left or right, and the other person sending any defense.
Headlock Reverse (Guillotine)
DRILL - FINAL:
Groups of 2, Defender, Attacker (gloves on). Defenders neutral, eyes closed. Attacker locates, starts sending all out Hooks. Defender covers and rides out strikes. Attacker eventually applies Headlock Reverse. Defend appropriately and reset.

COMBO:
Mouth of Hand Punch + Hammerfist Down + Clinch/Knee Burst
DRILL:
Groups of 3, Striker, Padholder, Attacker. Striker neutral, eyes closed. Pad standing in front. Attacker positions somewhere nearby. On “GO!” Striker opens eyes, sends Mouth of Hand, Clinches and orients to stack Pad between Attacker. Attacker attempts to tag Striker’s shoulder until “RESET!” cue.
Sweep with Heel Kick
COMBO:
Mouth of Hand Punch + Hammerfist Down + Clinch/Knee Burst + Sweep
NOTE: Padholders should not wrap wrists through pad handles to allow hand free for Fall Break
Knife - Kick from Distance
DRILL - FINAL:
Group of 3, Defender, Padholder, Attacker with Knife. Striker neutral, eyes closed. Attacker standing in front. Padholder positions somewhere nearby. On “GO!” Striker opens eyes, sends Knife - Kick from Distance, runs to Pad, Clinch/Knee Burst + Sweep, then run to designated “EXIT” and resets.
