Drill: Finding your range. 1 kick shield holder and 1 striker. Strikers work at closing the distance. Start by delivering a front kick to vertical target, followed by straight punch combo 2, 3, or 4, followed by control position and 2-3 knee strikes. Then striker disengages by pushing the pad holder backwards into kicking range and repeats the drill.
Choke from behind with a push
Drill: A/B drill. Group A stands in passive stance with eyes shut, Group B attacks Group A individuals randomly with choke from behind with a push. Groups switch roles next round.
Intermediate Class (B2)
Drill: Focus Mitts- Bob/weave/slip punches 2x and immediately follow up with counters.
Ground- Trap and roll
Ground- def. v. Choke full mount
Drill: Groups of 3; defender; on the ground on their back, eyes closed, attacker; mounts and starts safely striking defender OR mounts and Chokes defender, defender; makes the appropriate defense, quickly gets up and attacks pad with non-stop aggressive strikes until pad calls time, Reset!
Mouth of Hand Punch
Combo: Mouth of Hand Punch + Hammerfist Down + Clinch/Knee Burst
Drill: Groups of 3, Striker, Padholder, Attacker. Striker neutral, eyes closed. Pad standing in front. Attacker positions somewhere nearby. On “GO!” Striker opens eyes, sends Mouth of Hand, Clinches and orients to stack Pad between Attacker. Attacker attempts to tag Striker’s shoulder until “RESET!” cue.
Sweep with Heel Kick
Combo: Mouth of Hand Punch + Hammerfist Down + Clinch/Knee Burst + Sweep
Safety Note: Padholders should NOT wrap wrists through pad handles to allow hand free for Fall Break
