Straight Punches
Drill: 4 punches going forward
Drill: 4 punches going backward
Basic Takedown Defense
Drill: attacker holds hands up like focus mitts; defender makes 4 punches going forward (light punches); attacker then tries to grab, and the defender makes Basic Takedown Defense
Drill: as above, but with 4 punches going backward. NOTE! for both drills, the defender should make ONLY 4 punches for safety reasons
Choke from Behind
Drill: groups of 3; pad holder calls out 4 punches going forward or backward; defender punches as appropriate; third person makes Choke from Behind at any time

Hook Punch
Hook Punch (practice liver shot)
Combo: right cross/liver shot
Outside Defenses 1-5
Drill: eyes closed; attacker can move to any angle, then gives a verbal signal and makes a straight punch; defender must react with the proper defense and counterattack

Light Sparring
Body conditioning: exchange punches with partner, 4-5 body shots each
Gun from Behind
Knife Downward Stab — practice also reacting to angles from behind; to simplify the drill, have the defender look only over his left shoulder
Drill: gun or knife from behind
