Wingate Instructor Certification

The Krav Maga Alliance is proud to announce a Krav Maga Instructor certification at Wingate Institute in Israel.

This certification process will begin April 16-23, 2012 and is open only to members of the Krav Maga Alliance. Successful candidates will receive an official Krav Maga instructor diploma from Wingate Institute. (Visit http://www.wingatekravmaga.com/ to view the full program requirements.)

Wingate Institute is the home of Krav Maga instructor training in Israel. While a Wingate certification is not required for Alliance instructors, this diploma will be a prestigious addition to your credentials.

The Cost and What It Covers

Register and pay before January 1, 2012 and pay $2,050. Starting January 1, the cost is $2,550.. This includes:

  • Lodging at Wingate Institute
  • 3 meals per day (1 rest day not covered)
  • Training
  • Diploma fees, admin fees, etc.

Register and pay on or after January 1, 2012 and pay $2,550.

This cost assumes 25 participants. If the number goes up or down, the price will change marginally. The over/under will be very nominal.

The fee does NOT include airline tickets.  We are arranging a group rate and the cost is still to be determined, but you can assume you will pay approximately $1,500 for a round trip ticket from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv on El Al.

The fee also does NOT include transportation to and from the airport on the first and last day. We’re going to rent a bus. Expect to pitch in an extra $30-$50 once we have the bus assigned.

 

Prerequisites for Training

All candidates must be:

  • Brown Belt or above in Krav Maga
  • Members of a Krav Maga Alliance affiliate

If you’re not a brown belt (Level 5) in Krav Maga, but you are close, we have a test coming up in July at Alliance headquarters.  Come get some!

 

Additional Requirements

  • 30 Hour Apprenticeship: one of Wingate’s prerequisites for the instructor diploma is a 30 hour apprenticeship.  Wingate has agreed that training with John Whitman qualifies you under this requirement.
  • 90 Hours of Scientific Study: this requirement includes anatomy, physiology, etc. We are currently arranging for online training with Wingate to fulfill this requirement.

 

Administrative Stuff

There are two administrative details that you must provide:

  • Medical note from a doctor certifying that you are healthy to enter a course in Krav Maga instruction.
  • Health insurance for tourists covering sports activities.

 

The Diploma

If you successfully complete this first week, you will receive a diploma certifying you as an Assistant Instructor in Krav Maga from Wingate Institute.

For those who want to receive a full instructor’s degree, we are arranging a second week of training in Los Angeles for early 2012!
