BEGINNER CLASS (B3)

Distance Continuum (if your group does not have basic striking, this drill might take too long) – Groin Kicks, Straight Punches, Knees, Elbows — defender practices moving in and then back out, using appropriate weapons at all ranges.  Do this drill slowly at first, then explosively — they should be exhausted by the end!

Choke from Behind with a Push – practice both sides (this will make a longer lesson)

Drill: attacker chokes from behind, but pushes from a slight angle; defender must react appropriate based on the angle of attack

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (B3)

Side Kick

Drill: eyes closed, attacker either gives a verbal signal from either side OR shoves defender from other side; defender must decide on the appropriate weapon based on the distance: elbow, hammer fist, or side kick; then continue with combatives

Hair Grab from the Side

Drill: as above, but include Hair Grab from the Side AND all chokes and head lock from Level 1.

ADVANCED CLASS (B3)

Thai Pads: 4 rounds of 1 minute, 15 second break; very high intensity, basic combinations

Spinning Heel Kick

Sliding Defense v. Spinning Heel Kick (try it against a high round kick, too!)

Plucking/Rowing Defense v. Medium Side Kick

Sparring Drill: both attack, both defend, but one person is the aggressor; aggressor includes side kicks sometimes; defender includes Side Kick Defense

Repeat Thai Pads: 4 rounds of 1 minute, 15 second break; very high intensity, basic combinations
